Manipulative and naïve, cold and passionate, Miss Narcissa Black somehow finds a way to unite these contradiction within her young person. The truth about her is, that not unlike most girls her age, she is still trying to figure out what kind of person she really is and wants to be. Therefore her behaviour towards others and herself isn't always consistent, she also tends to reconsider her opinions about certain topics and/or people every fortnight. One thing is certain though, the blonde is ruled by emotions at her core. Yet as a young aristocratic pureblood lady should, she has learned to conceal her tumultuous inner life from the people around her with wearing an elegantly indifferent mask.

It is because of her rather intense and ever-changing emotional life that Narcissa desperately clings to people and concepts that seem pure, strong and hold the promise of stability. She never questioned the traditional Black family views on blood purity, accepting it as gospel. Headstrong and unwavering personalities appeal to her, her impressionable nature feels drawn to them. Combined with the pull dark and forbidden things seem to exert on her, the girl is very much prone to mixing with the most vicious crowd at the Slytherin house.

Being the youngest child of the Black family shaped her personality more than she is aware of. Narcissa is somewhat accustomed to be spoiled and allowed more freedom to do things she wants than other people. With the implicitness that she is extraordinary by mere birth, the girl almost expects to get special treatment. Luckily, thanks to her beauty and girlish charm, she usually gets it, but in the rare cases she doesn't, she will pout and sulk. Not being favoured is something she simply doesn't understand. Having a beautiful exterior is something natural to her, and she has learned to employ it in order to get things she wants over the years.

With the exception of occasionally manipulating people to achieve certain privileges, Narcissa doesn't usually engage in morally wrong activities. Her true nature isn't malicious or cruel. Instead, she possesses loyalty that would rather befit a Gryffindor or a Hufflepuff. She will do anything for the people she holds dear, even if it means acting against her own better judgement. Perhaps it is due to her rather romantic nature. The girl fills her free time with ready rather trashy romance novels and fantasizing about finding her great love (a pureblood wizard, of course).

Due to her looks and the social status of her family, many people tend to underestimate her intellect. And while it is true that Narcissa isn't an academic overachiever, she does master her spells strongly and is an apt dueller. In conversation, she is usually polite and charming, adhering to the unwritten rules of how a lady of her stature has to behave. Yet if challenged or worse yet – insulted or disrespected – her quick wit and sharp tongue come to show.

Born after her sisters Bellatrix and Andromeda, Narcissa Black was the youngest child to a branch of one of the noblest and richest families, the couple Cygnus and Druella Black. She was the only one of the Black sisters to inherit the Rosier blonde hair and blue eyes. As a toddler, she was lively and social, enjoying the interactions with her parents and elder sisters the most. The Black manor was filled with her melodious laughter more often than not. The family was often visited by other family members and friends, and the Black sisters got to know most of the wizarding world elite that way.

Being the youngest meant that Narcissa got made fun of and excluded from games her elder sisters and cousins played. Yet it didn't hinder her from looking up to Andromeda and especially Bellatrix, whom she always admired for being decisive and strong. She often followed the eldest sister around, tried to copy her behaviour and sometimes got into trouble by executing orders Bellatrix gave to her. Luckily, being the youngest also meant she could slither her way out of trouble and grave punishments more easily, her parents trying to keep an eye on their other daughters and their growing needs and characters.

Of course, being a Black didn't only mean fun and games, certain responsibilities and values came with the name. Druella took it upon herself to teach her children about the importance of blood purity and social hierarchies to her daughters from very young age. Lessons in etiquette, drawing and singing – old fashioned subjects believed to be required for young ladies – were integrated in the everyday lives of the Black sisters. While her elder sisters haven't enjoyed it as much, Narcissa seemed quite content with the schedule her mother had composed for her. She took the lessons and instructions to heart.

A time of excitement began upon receiving her invitation to Hogwarts. She had already watched both of her sisters go to the famous school and the house had felt empty without them, leaving her to occupy herself with her books. Her mother helped her pick out all the required items, new clothing and a wand that they got personalized with an elegant handle. And the joy of her being finally sorted into Slytherin, the house both her sisters and almost all of her family members before them belonged to! Narcissa felt very proud.

During her first years at Hogwarts, she was rather shy, choosing to socialize with her sisters, cousins and offspring of famous pureblood family offspring she already knew from the years before. Over the years, the initial shyness subsided but her socializing habits remained, now growing into full-fledged elitism. While Narcissa tries to keep focussed on her studies at Hogwarts, now her thoughts are somewhat preoccupied with a match her parents are trying to arrange for her. Even if the problem is more acute for her elder sisters, she hopes not only to be paired off with a wizard that is worthy of her, socially and financially, but she also clings to the fantasy that her future marriage has to be based on true love, not only blood.
