He had told Rasmus more than he had ever intended to tell him, but the other wasn't laughing at him or pushing him away. He didn't know if he was relieved by the prospect or frightened even further. Yes, Chord had considered the possibility he might have been under an enchantment, but because he was aware enough to think such things, he knew that it was impossible. Those under spells and enchantments were unaware, and they often became volatile whenever anyone suggested it as a possibility.
"No... but it doesn't matter," Chord wondered just how that statement would stand later on. But he had made his decision, and he was nothing if not determined. By attending the dance with Rasmus, he was committing himself to their friendship... relationship. He didn't know what they were, but the hand on his face indicated that they were something beyond friends.
His cold blue eyes stared into Rasmus's with a warmth that rarely reached them. "You're the first person... who has made me so angry and so happy at the same time," he said with a hint of amusement. His guard was completely down, he was vulnerable, but he either didn't care or he didn't realize it. He put a hand on Rasmus's chest as he gazed up at him. This would be the moment, would it not? If he didn't take the chance now, he didn't know if he'd have it again.
So he leaned forward, brushing his lips featherlight against the other boy's. His heart felt as if it had stopped beating, and he couldn't breathe. He was anxious that his decision would be met with antagonistic actions. He was terrified that Rasmus had been playing with him, even though the boy had never given him any indication that he was the sort to do such a thing. Chord was naturally self-aware, so the moment that he lost grip on the control of a situation was the moment he grew fearful.
He liked Rasmus. He genuinely, truly liked him. And he wanted to be more than friends, but he didn't know if Rasmus wanted the same thing. Now that he had seen him without his guard, would he like him so much. He shirked back, hand falling to his side, gaze averting the the ground as he awaited the reaction. He felt like pulling away and running, and it was all he could do to keep from doing so.
