Hair: Much like his father and brother, Rabastan adornes ebony hair. There are days that he keeps his long bangs, which have a natural curl to it, in front of his eyes. Then there are some days he parts the bangs to the left or right side, or copies his brother's appearance by slicking it back. The sides of his cut remains short, as well as the back – he believes his forehead is too hard to groom his bangs. Eyes: They are a set of a bland brown, shrouded by dark thick lashes. Often times his gaze appears a light hazel color in sun-light settings. Height: 6” Weight: 141 lbs.
Rabastan is a naturally stubborn person. If he gets into an argument and he has an inkling that he may be wrong, he will end up changing his stance and manipulating the situation to have favorable results for himself. With his strong personality, he has an excessive amounts of prejudices. He most likely won't become friends with someone who is outside of his status (ie, half-bloods, or those who are poor). As a Lestrange he has a noble reputation to uphold and does not offer any pity to those who cannot meet his high demands. Beneath his cold attitude there is a complex character, hidden by the strict 'image' he was raised with. Often times he comes off as frank, serious minded and even viscous; however, with those who have come to know his good side will see that Rabastan has a quirky humor. With those closest to him he is playful, blunt and has a tendency at dry humor, and because of this – those who actually enjoy Rabstan's company, never get offended by it.
Above all, Rabastan has a competitive side. Since his older brother has always been the perfect model for the Lestrange family, he attempts to mirror everything that he does. Although he looks up to his elder brother, he does not lose sight of his own interests. If the siblings hobbies and interests are common to each other, it is because of years being together and nothing more. He does well at his studies, despite his tendency to disrupt classes. Rabastan is able to express his thought process in a clear, concise matter, no matter how absurd it sounds. When it comes to his studies and his family, he is devoted to a point where he would risk his health and life for it. Thus having Rabastan as a close ally or friend is beneficial. However, if a person is to deceive or trick Rabastan, the person will end up being unforgivable and most likely experience a wrath from the Lestrange male. Although Rabastan is capable of being an innovator and working alone, he would prefer to partake in his daily rituals with someone else.
Because the Lestrange reputation is so lofty, Rabastan does not feel bad when he is rude or even mistreats someone else. Pride runs deep through his blood, and because of this it makes him dangerous and cunning. He cannot tolerate people who do not understand the concept of Wizardy, let alone those who are mudblood. If he is set off, his anger is hard to dismantle – he will be the first to hex a person, but he will not do it in a cowardly way. There were at times that Rabastan has considered murder, but his own fear of being imprisoned or expelled from Hogwarts has always kept his anger at bay. He prefers company of wizards who are not ordinary, as well as share his views on the society of wizarding.
Rabastan Lestrange is the younger brother of Rodolphus Lestrange. The Lestrange family is an ancient blood-line of purebloods, one of the most prestigious bloodlines of the Marauders time. The two Lestrange siblings were born to Nikodemos Lestrange; however, their mother remains unknown to this day. Growing up in the Lestrange family with no mother around wasn't as bad as most parental units would perceive – after all, the Lestrange family has always known wealth. The Lestrange father was an accomplished student at Hogwarts, and later achieved great success from an unknown help (most likely Tom Riddle). Ever since Rabastan was a young lad, he has always looked up to his elder brother Rodolphus. Rod, in Rabastan's eyes, was far better than their father and Rodolphus would show it by his acute ability to cast spells at a very young age. However, Rabastan did not have the same outcome – three years behind his brother, at the age of 10 Rabastan showed signs of magical ability where it only took Rodolphus at the age of six.
Nikodemos did not show too much emotional adoration toward the two siblings, though Rabastan will never admit that he believes Rodolphus was the favorite son – as is in most first-born sons in pure-blood families. However, Nikodemos always appeared joyous not to be gifted a daughter as it would have been bothersome to find a family to pair her with. The Lestrange father remained strict on siblings, teaching them of the magical world and the expectations that came with being a pure-blood. On the occasion, Nokodemos would gift the two siblings with the opportunity to view quidditch matches, with the best seats, as always. At a young age Rabastan got into the habit of following his elder brother where ever he went. However, it took Rabstan more alone time and work to get his magial abilities up to par. Their childhood wasn't too warming and Niko would end up leaving the two siblings with a nanny to speak with someone very important. Niko always remained secretive in where he was going and who he spoke with.
During the first year that Rodolphus had left for Hogwarts, Rabstan had to get used to being alone. Without his brother's presence he often felt less confident and wouldn't go out alone. It had even hurt Rabstan to see their father flourish his elder brother with attention – that is, being with him for his first wand, his first books and his first departure on the train to Hogwarts. He took his older brother's absence as an opportunity and tried his best to get on his father's good side. Most of the conversations that Rabstan had with his father consisted of, “When you go to Hogwarts make sure Rodolphus does this.” Rabstan felt more like a gate-keeper and figured out that his father had no interest in putting too much on Rabstan's shoulders. Often times this would make Rabstan insecure, but never rebellious, still fighting for their father's affection. During his years of loneliness he practiced intently on using magic without a wand, and although he wasn't the greatest – the more he attempted the better he got at being able to do the “basics”. The look on his father's face when Rod was sorted into Slytherin still haunts him to this day, for when he ended up being sorted into Slytherin a year later – it was pleased, but not as prideful as it was with Rod's news. However, some pain from the situation is resolved when Niko presented Rabastan with a Acromantula web core wand, an illegal make. Niko explained that he had got it from a powerful wizard (the one mentioned before), and said to give it to his second son to help them out in the future. Niko did not give this core-wand to Rod, as he was already gifted with the rare basilisk core. Rabastan tells no one of his make of wand.
Although Rabstan unintentionally harbors some resentment for his older brother, he felt more at home at Hogwarts next to Rodolphus' side. Even at school he appeared to be following in his brother's foot-steps, taking next to the same class schedule and trying out for quidditch. Although he did not get on the team his first year, he was recruited his second as chaser. The summer retreats were always exciting, but he felt there was more excitement at Hogwarts, being as the Lestrange brothers often got into trouble, or caused drama just for the heck of it. During the summer before Rabastan's sixth-year, Niko finally clued the two brothers in on his intentions. He explained that a great wizard was going to help get rid of the mudbloods and that he would affiliate themselves under a name. Niko said it was known as “death eaters” but to say nothing of it, and he pleaded that the two siblings follow in his footsteps. But Niko did not give the name of the powerful wizard, nor any real content to the matter. Rabastan and Rod are not in the dark like most wizards, but they do not know the full extent of what "death eaters" really mean. Rabastan is keen on following his father's foot-steps and to answer to his request.
Rabstan now waits in time for his father to finally tell him what he is destined for.
