So who exactly is Emmeline Naveen Vance? You can know all the generals you wish about her, but that can't truly explain this witch. But that would be a major misunderstanding of her. Emmeline is a shyly active little blonde, but don't let her hair color fool you. She has smarts enough for a Gryffindor. This lion certainly exceeds expectations in her studies. One must do their best to defend against the dark magicians after all. Despite being a Gryffindor, Emmeline has a sharp tongue and a mind full of wit, some would say her cunning word play would give any Slytherin a run for their galleons. Personality isn't all about how you can be intelligent though, Emmeline is very loyal to those that she gets close to. A fierce friend. That is, if you can get close enough to earn her loyalty, and trust. Many claim to be her friend, but she only claims a few. Emmeline is a very independent Witch, despite being able to work well with others, she works better alone. But not to worry, she is acquainted with many students and spends her free time with a variety of sorts, including some of those otherwise pesky Slytherins. When you've known the same batch of students for more than six years, its hard to not be acquainted. After all, Emmeline feels each house is like an animal pack, and all should work well together.
Emmeline also feels like the responsible one amongst her friends, keeping everyone grounded while they flounce about. She's reliable, they know that. Badgering them to finish essays on time, reminding them to study even if they aren't as hardworking as she is, never leaving a job unfinished. Life has been known to hand her a lot of things, and she's lived so that she's well prepared for them. Mostly, she is quiet and serious, staying down-to-earth and hardly doing anything crazy. Her her, dancing around in the dorms in her nightshirt and tube socks to a song on the radio is crazy.
When she commits herself to something, she sticks to it. Where it's a friend or a project.
Love may be something that just happens naturally, and sometimes people go looking for it, but however it happens, she goes along with it allowing the chips to fall where they may, the only time in fact, that she lets things take their own course, against anything she may have planned days in advance like everything else.
While she may see herself as decisive, stable, and dependable, those who don't understand her see her as boring, conservative and egotistical, though she doesn't believe she is anything like that egotistical airhead, James Potter.
Emmeline lived with her Mother Brigitte and her father Lucas in a mostly muggle village near Tunbridge Up until she went to Hogwarts, she attended Rose Hill Day Prep. A private school her mother had enrolled her in at the age of five, and kept her at in hopes that she would be able to function as a normal person, without the influence of magic, should magic fail her. Brigitte did not keep it to herself that she despite loving Lucas, she despised magic, and the fact that it resided in his blood, as well as her daughter's. In her early days, Emmeline had a lot of friends from school, and together they would run the beach until their calves burned, Then they would sit by a driftwood fire, watching the flames dance in hues of blues and greens from the salt water that washed up on shore, barely tickling their toes.
When she got her letter from Hogwarts, she stopped spending time with her muggle friends, for fear that they would discover she was a witch and thing her a freak. Which, she supposed, in their eyes, she was. A freak of nature doing things they only see on the television and read about in fantasy books.
She still goes back to that same stop on the beach every summer, running its shores in the morning, and sitting by the fires in the evenings, doing summer homework or simply reading to stay caught up in her studies.
Her father, a single, working parent, did his best to raise her, but it was hard on him, feeling he never did enough. When it became to much for her to stay at the school while he finished work, Lucas moved himself and his daughter out to a wizarding-popular neighborhood, Upper-Flagley, where a kind old witch looked after the children of working witches and wizards. Emmeline has returned to Margate for every holiday and break she's gotten from Hogwarts. She visits Ms. Lynn, the now elderly witch who still watches over the neighborhood children. She hasn't seen her mother since that night when she was seven, but every day she silently thanks her for the health-nutt habits that she instilled in her father, and in her, at a young age.
