Nen is very much a kind soul, and always has other's best intentions at heart when making any decision. The happiness of others is always put ahead of his own, doing kind things for people had always made him content. He is very friendly, and usually has a bright smile on his face. His positive energy almost lightens the air around him, his jolly demeanor being seemingly contagious. When speaking with someone, he always treats them with respect, making eye contact and giving them his utmost attention. Very sociable, he interacts well with others, even in awkward situations. A very good adapter, he is able to mingle with many different kinds of people and not cause any disturbances.
Nen is extremely intelligent, constantly observing and absorbing the information around him. Even as a young child he was able to learn things at an astronomical rate compared to other children his age, and his older brother. Growing up with this, Nen liked to hide his brilliant mind behind a facade of an innocent and naive boy. Having being labeled 'a genius' all his life, he wanted nothing more then for people to look at him as a normal person when they first meet. Eventually one will be able to figure out his playful exterior and recognize his brilliant mind.
Nen loves to have fun, in any way, shape or form. He loves sharing experiences with people, and will often go on 'adventures' with someone, where they go off and just look for trouble to get into. He is very much a prankster at heart, and will not hesitate to pull a good one on you once in a while. Laughter is always good for the soul. Even though he may tease and prank his friends, he loves them, and will do anything, even die for them. Not having any family left, his friends are all he has, and he treasures each one.
Nethaniel was born on Dec 18th, into his family of his 2 year old brother, and 38 year old mother. Their father, a squib from a line of pure bloods, left the family before Nethaniel was born, and never came back. His strict family found out about their son bearing children with a muggle, and demanded that he wipe their memories, and never see them again. He never knew who his father was, for his brother and mother would always just go quiet whenever he asked. She worked very hard to raise the two boys, sometimes not in the best of ways. When things got tight, she would ‘lend’ her body to men for money. She hid it very well, never letting her little boys see her shame. She loved them both and would do anything for them.
It was clear from an early age that even though Nethaniel was the younger of the two, he was the intelligent one. Nethaniel seemed to have no trouble learning, in fact he was very intelligent for his age. His brother on the other hand, would rarely speak, and showed no signs of social development. The toddler would stand there and look at the ground most of the time, while his brother would be playing, reading, and learning. Because their mother had to work many jobs, the little boys were left at home alone a lot. Nethaniel took it upon himself to care for his brother, playing with him, even trying to teach him some things. No matter how hard he tried, though, his brother showed no signs of taking in what his younger sibling was teaching him. despite this, Nethaniel would always teach his brother new things, never faltering from his trademark constant upbeat personality.
When Nethaniel joined school, it became apparent that he was high above his level of intelligence for his age. Some tests were done, and it was found that in his best subjects like science and math, he was testing at a 6th grade level. Some tests were also preformed on Eden, but on his brain. The teachers were concerned from his lack of learning capacity, it was almost non existent. It took many months to get the tests done, because the technology had recently been invented. It was found that there was a large tumor in Eden’s brain, too large to operate on. Where it was situated in his brain caused his lack of short and long term memory. The doctors didn’t think that he would live past 14.
All through school, Nethaniel would always protect his brother from bullies, they were both targeted for being ‘different’. He took many beatings for his brother, but always did so without hesitation, not wanting him to have to experience the pain. They tried to keep a low profile, but the bullies would still find them occasionally.
In their second grade, their mother disappeared. She never came to pick up the boys from school one day, and no trace of her was ever found. Since the boys had no close living relatives, they were put in an orphanage. Nethaniel would have gotten adopted straight away, if it wasn’t for his persistent request to not be separated from his brother. He refused to leave his brother and live in a new life without him. So one could imagine how torn he must have been receiving his letter on their 10th birthday.
When the letter first came, Nethaniel couldn’t believe it. He was a wizard? But how? He had spent his entire life up to this point believing that magic was fake, scientifically impossible. It went against almost everything that he had learned. Once the reality of it all sunk in, he realized something. His brother hadn’t received a letter on his tenth birthday. Grief overtook the young boy as he realized that once again, he was given a gift that his brother was not. All he had ever wanted was for his brother to have something, but always got the short end of the stick.
For half a year, Nethaniel jumped back and forth between wanting to go to this Magical school, and staying in this world with his brother. Nen was beyond his years in intellect by this point, and put much thought into this decision. The faster the beginning of the new school year came, the more Nethaniel was leaning towards going. He wanted to be there for his brother, but this opportunity was too amazing to pass up. Nethaniel vowed to his brother that he would write him everyday, and tell him everything about his school. Eden was a little upset that his brother was leaving, but later explained that he knew they would be separated into different schools eventually because of their differences.
Being at Hogwarts was surreal at first. Everyday felt like a dream that he was going to wake up from soon. From his first day at the school, he spent every waking moment trying to learn as much as he could about magic. Hours were spent in the library studying many different subjects. Charms and defence against the dark arts were his best subjects. Potions, for some reason, he was not the best at. He was never the worst in potions, but was very much used to getting top grades in all his other classes. He loved being at Hogwarts, and made the most out of everyday spent there. The brothers sent owls back and forth, Eden loved receiving the owls, and hearing about his brother's magical adventures. In the summertime and on Christmas, Nethaniel would visit Eden at the orphanage. In his third year, Eden got adopted by a very nice couple. Nethaniel was ecstatic. He still got to visit his brother on the breaks, the muggle parents being told that Nethaniel goes to a prestigious private school for brilliant minds.
During the summer after his 4th year, Eden passed away. The pressure of the tumor in his brain caused a blood clot, and he died in his sleep one summer's night. Nethaniel was mortified by his brother's death, but dealt with the death fairly well. Only his closest friends knew about the death, and were surprised at how he barely showed signs of it even happening.
