Castor was the quietest of the Prewett children. His older sister Molly's personality easily outshined his, and his two brothers, Fabian and Gideon, often ended up excluding him from their games and activities because of their age gap and his penchant for reading as opposed to running around or roughhousing. He enjoys quiet conversation, but that certainly does not mean that he can't get excited about certain subjects. He can be very passionate, though he expresses it in usually quiet tones and with a little smile.
Many people would describe Castor as cold, simply because he regularly converses with only a select few good friends that are just like him. He just doesn't much see the point in engaging in meaningless small talk, much less with people he doesn't know. However, he strives to never be impolite, and in fact is quite courteous.
With his close circle of friends, Castor finds intelligent conversation most enjoyable, though a good dose of sunlight and quidditch is rarely unwelcome. In larger crowds or groups of louder people, Castor will often let the conversation go on around him, listening intently and offering his own opinions sparingly, or simply ignoring the conversations and going off into his own world of thoughts. He likes to think that he has no enemies but knows some people find him uncomfortable company. He tends to ignore them unless they make it a point to speak to him first.
Castor was something of an afterthought in his family, being born nearly a decade after his closest older sibling. He was treated much like an only child when he was small, as his other siblings were often off in their own group. He was never close to his siblings growing up, and turned instead to books and his family for comfort and activity.
As he grew up in a pureblood home, he was practically trained to view those outside of his family as lower than himself, and those that were halfblood or muggle-born as almost less than human. Still, his family was a bit more open-minded, and despite the influence of his aunts and uncles, he grew up tolerant and mostly without discrimination.
The arrival of his Hogwarts acceptance letter was expected but nonetheless celebrated. His parents were mostly happy that their youngest son would be off to meet new people and would hopefully fall in with a pleasant, higher-up crowd and make friends, not to mention hone his undoubtedly strong magical abilities. He was, understandably, sorted into the Ravenclaw house, and was pleased to find that most of the other students there were just like him: studious, creative, and intelligent. He felt right at home, and flourished. In his fourth year he went out for the quidditch team and made chaser.
In his fifth year he came into some popularity partially because of his involvement with the quidditch team, not to mention his growth into a rather handsome young man. He entertained a few girlfriends for a short period of time, though he never found them interesting enough to hold onto them for any noticeable length of time. Now he has found himself in a comfortable place with his studies, his sport, and his friends.
