Devon would first be described as having a playful personality. He and his numerous friends are usually planning or carrying out harmless but embarrassing pranks both on their enemies and their friends. He can be somewhat naive about many issues, ultimately an optimist. He knows very well that things are getting bad in the wizarding world, but likes to turn a blind eye.
As far as school goes, as stated before, he can't stand being stuck in a classroom for hours. He often skips, a habit he picked up as the years went on, though he does keep up with his work for the most part, very much dependent on his brother Alastair's absolutely flawless study habits. He works very hard not to do much work at all in classes, unless they're actually interesting to him, such as potions and care of magical creatures.
Devon is very spontaneous, rarely thinking through big decisions or whether the decisions he's making are big at all. He rarely if ever thinks about how his decisions will affect those around him, either, and this sometimes leads to strained relationships with his friends and especially his brother. Still, he regards their anger with indifference for the most part, and never apologizes.
Devon was sorted into Gryffindor house because of his sense of adventure and absolute if sometimes misplaced loyalty. He's very stubborn, though, and though he cares deeply for his family and friends, he often offends them just because he thinks of his opinion and choices as the only ones, and doesn't want to accept that he could be wrong.
Devon was born seven minutes after his twin brother Alastair, to a pleasant pair of parents in a small village in Surrey. His mother Valerie was a gifted Ravenclaw and married a young muggle office worker, Thomas. Her wizard family was none too pleased about the marriage and she lost touch with them through the years. Devon and Alastair have met their grandparents on their mother's side perhaps twice.
The boys were born shortly after their parents' small wedding occurred, and grew up very close. They very much had the "twin connection" but they also had a sibling rivalry going between them as they grew old enough to realize one could very much be better than the other. Growing up in a muggle society, Devon was always considered the more sucessful of the twins. He was much more physical and pretty good at sports, especially those that involved roughhousing. Devon learned quite a bit from his mother, but always seemed more interested in his father's lessons about American football and rugby. He was running the neighborhood with his friends during any daylight hours, rarely inviting his bookworm of a brother along.
Devon was just as excited as his brother about the arrival of their Hogwarts letters, though he sobered after the initial celebration, realizing that he would be leaving his friends behind in Surrey to go to Scotland. He also wasn't really looking forward to only playing one sport, much less one played entirely on broomsticks. He also wasn't particularly enticed by the idea of robes and extra classes and being away from his mother and father.
Devon and Alastair were sorted into the two most opposite houses, though because of his mother's family's running line of Ravenclaws they both expected to be together. Devon was certainly not pleased in the least to see his brother sorted into Slytherin, though he found many lasting friends in the house of red and gold. The split between Devon and Alastair did push them apart, but they still care deeply for one another.
