Once in awhile she took a break in everything she was doing. It was still early in the year but even she knew that if she scheduled every bit of her time to death that she would burn out fast and that would just be a huge waste of who she was. Being a Ravenclaw she was supposed to be a huge nerd but even she knew that sometimes, if not all the time, she went above and beyond the call of duty so to speak. This was one of the reasons she was usually by herself, the only exception being her familiar, Sasha. The Turkish Angora was currently bounding about the common room chasing both her tail and any dust particles that she came across.
Pandorah closed her icy eyes and let out a breath nice and slowly. What were her plans this year? To excel of course but how? Was she just planning on getting exemplary grades and passing the N.E.W.T.'s? That just did not seem like enough. There was so much more she could do and wanted to even. Perhaps she should honestly think of the idea of a boyfriend. Most girls had one last year if not even in fourth year but she had yet to even kiss a boy. There were some she found attractive, but looks and personality were a far cry from intelligence in their cases. Stretching out her long legs on the couch that she currently dominated she finally let her eyes open up slowly and to look about the room.
How many of her housemates did she honestly know? Oh sure she knew their names, talked to them once in awhile and even knew some of their classes. Being a prefect she knew a bit more then perhaps others did, simply because she made it so. She was generally bossy but that was just her personally, naturally. Maybe it was her age, the fact that soon here she would be turning seventeen, she wasn't sure but honestly she was starting to feel a tad bit lonely. No friends, no boyfriend, only her familiar for company. How pathetic that really was.
Sliding a long fingered hand down her midsection she stopped to fumble with the end of her tie, an easy preoccupation. Why did she feel this way and why was it so important to change it? The haughty demeanor, elitist attitude, those things would never go...and definitely were not the type of things to attract other people. She didn't need anyone so why suddenly the want? Bah, it wasn't important anyway and her gaze trailed over to Sasha once more who was currently stalking something about the room, per usual.
“You might want to be careful there Sasha, whatever you are chasing could have teeth.” Though her familiar was a finicky thing she wasn't actually vicious and usually didn't attack anyone, or their familiars either. She just liked to play a lot, and to chase even more so. “You think we will have any other visitors to the common room today? I am wondering if we shall, and just what will happen when we do. I am terribly bored anymore and up for anything it seems. Life needs a kick in the ass.” For once this was true. She loved routine but right now it was becoming boring and bothersome, she needed some spice and something fun. Maybe the Ravenclaw's could come up with some large prank...or something wild, or at least fun. The group was usually too concerned with learning though and really so was she.
Anytime was a good time to try something new right? This was going very far out of her comfort zone but, she was doing it.
[ooc: Anyone can join. I am hoping for a free for all and maybe get the housemates a little closer together. Who knows what can happen. pan is opening up a teensy bit!]

Sethunya was pretty sure that the last few days had been a bit slow; and awfully boring, of course being a student didn't always give one the most exciting days. And there were times where even Hogwarts didn't have a lot of excitement in its magical corridors.
She probably looked quite insane walking down the corridors to the Ravenclaw house talking to herself, but really, if you looked close enough, she was talking to the little animal that was riding on her shoulder -- and managing to stay on her shoulder as its master walked briskly toward their house. Sethunya wasn't really talking about much as she continued to breathlessly whisper words to the rat. She was mostly talking about what she thought of the things she had learned in some of her classes, and what exactly she needed to get done before her classes the next day. It must have sounded really exciting, because she could have sworn the rat was beginning to doze off as the girl went into her reverie.
When she finally made it to the door she said the answer to the riddle just as quickly as the riddle had come, it seemed. She was quite the jokester and riddle teller, so figuring out the answers was never too hard for her. She put that down as being a Ravenclaw through and through. Her grandparents, and their parents before them, her parents, and her two brothers that were a year older than her were all in Ravenclaw; the only exception was her eldest brother whom had actually been a Gryffindor -- though people tend to forget that little detail and simply say that their whole family was Ravenclaw; which is mostly true. Her eldest brother had the Ravenclaw brain, but he was rambunctious and more chivalrous than any Ravenclaw and thus he was placed into the Gryffindor house.
But that was neither here nor there.
When she walked in, she almost got knocked down by a Turkish Angora who was playfully chasing something about. She recognized the cat as one of the prefects, but she couldn't remember who it was exactly. She knew of the prefects, and she most notably noticed the older ones because they were much smarter and much more active in the school and house; which is what granted them the prefect label, probably. Sethunya wasn't really sure how one was chosen for a prefect, all she knew is that she probably wouldn't know what to do as one if she ever was one. Of course, she couldn't peg the person just by seeing the cat flash by; and a lot of people seemed to have cats or owls so it was much harder to distinguish them in her mind.
Granted the owner of said cat may or may not be in the room, well, that was a completely different thing all together.
Sethunya loved this room; it was amazing with the bronzes and the blues and the curtains and stars. It actually made her quite happy, and somehow it put her at peace when she was in this room. That or the fact that her parents had told her stories of this room, and every time she walked in she could picture the stories so clearly in her mind; or it was just that to any Ravenclaw this room was probably quite amazing and peaceful. If not, she was probably just strange in finding such little things so gorgeous.
Sethunya took Petunia into her hands and walked around the room. She wasn't quite sure what she was going to do, but she wanted to be in this room right now and just take in the stars rather than sit and hone right in on doing work. It always made her seem like such a dork because that's all she ever really did, come straight to the common room and hone in on school work. She liked to do work, and she liked to learn and practice, but sometimes she needed a break or to procrastinate. So, with her rat in had she went to sit on the rug of stars; a smile on her face as she placed her rat in her lap and closed her eyes, her finger rubbing the rats head.
When she opened her eyes again she realized that there was actually someone else in the room. She couldn't remember right away if she had ever met this girl, but it was quite obvious the girl was at least a year ahead of her. She seemed wiser and held herself with such confidence even if she was previously alone in the room to her own thoughts. "I'm Sethunya," the girl said softly not wanting to interrupt the quiet in case the girl preferred it that way. "Oh, this is Petunia," she added pointing to the rat in her lap.

It was a beautiful night for stargazing. There were barely any clouds, only the occasional wisp of white fluff in the sky. The stars shone brightly against their deep blue backdrop, shining bright for all to see. Nen sat at the window in the corner of the common room, with a small telescope pointed up to the sky. His cat, kitten, was curled up in his lap, her tiny paws twitching as she dreamed. A small yawn escaped Nen's lips as he scribbled some notes onto parchment, putting the finishing touches on the three foot essay that had been assigned in class earlier that week. It wasn't due for another two days, but Nen liked to get homework done as soon as possible, like most did in this house.
Replacing his quill into it's ink bottle, Nen stretched his arms over his head, leaning his chair back to stretch his legs as well. As much as he loved stargazing and doing homework, it cramped up his muscles sitting at these tables. As her dreams were disturbed by Nen stirring, kitten jumped down onto the ground, beginning to circle around his feet. He smiled down at the white cat, beginning to pack away his things that were scattered across the table.
He had been working on homework since dinner. Unless there were exams, Nen had always finished his homework fairly early. He wasn't used to seeing so little students in the common room as he finished. Sixth year was proving to be the hardest yet. The amount of work that he had been putting into each class had at least doubled since his previous year. Not that he minded, however, he loved the challenge. He hadn't had any issues with keeping up with the workload so far. No matter how much homework he had, Nen always found the time to do it, and the things he loved, like quidditch. Lately he had taken to reading quidditch strategy books for hours on end, then going out and practicing for a couple of hours. He wanted his team to win the cup this year.
After he finished replacing his belongings into his messenger bag, he stood up, feeling kitten batting at his leg playfully. He smiled down at her and watched as she flicked her tail in anticipation. Nen had just gotten her this summer, as his owl passed away before the end of his 5th year. It was a nice owl, just a regular barn owl, nothing really special to him. Nen was sad when he passed, but not overly upset. Kitten on the other hand, he held a particular liking towards. The playful kitten always amused him with her mannerisms, and was so cuddly! "I'll give you a treat upstairs, kitten" He told her, starting towards the staircase of the dorms.
Usually she would follow him upstairs, following at his heel. After a few steps, he realized that she was not following him, and as he turned around, saw that she hadn't moved from that spot, but now had her body pressed low to the ground, her butt wiggling playfully. Letting out a small chuckle, he walked over and bent to pick her up. Before he could lift the small feline off the ground, she bolted from his grasp, darting away from him, towards a girl sitting on the ground. The tiny furball lept onto her back, hanging onto her clothes with her nails.
Gasping, Nen ran over and peeled the kitten from the girls back "Oh no! I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed, looking down at her. "Are you okay?"

Those who did not play quidditch were usually under the impression that it was not a very physically demanding sport. After all, the players did not have to run, they were simply gliding along on broomsticks, that didn't take much work, did it? However, Castor and the other players knew better. The stairs up to the Ravenclaw house were a nightmare after a few hours on the pitch. His arms felt like lead, and though his expensive broom was quite light, he literally dragged the sweeping end along the stone floors when he had the chance, though he was still careful not to ruin any of the bristles. Any experienced player would say that the straw gave the broom its handling, which was imperative on the field.
As tired as he was, Castor had to pause at the door of the commons to think of the answer to the eagle's riddle. He finally found it and was able to push through the door, murmuring a soft "thank you" absently to the bronze knocker.
He was greeted by the sight of a fairly busy common room for any given night. There were three other students there, one of which was on his own quidditch team, and two cats that were playing and causing a ruckus. Though Castor often welcomed quiet and relaxation, the entertainment was a far cry from being a nuisance. He said not a word, just smiled as he moved to an empty armchair to rest his broom against. He sat and began unstrapping the various guards and pads that helped one keep all bones intact while playing the rough game.
As he dropped his last shinguard beside his broom, he sat back, his height and length of leg giving him the appearance of a tired prince lounging on a throne. Another survey of the room brought his eyes around, and they landed on Pandorah, a prefect of his own year. They had rarely spoken, having different class schedules and then enjoying different activities in their free time, though when he saw her in the hall he would usually offer a polite nod of recognition, as he did most of what he would call his friends.
"Miss Koenig," he said with a subtle smile. If Castor Prewett could be described in one word it would be polite. He always seemed to know how to greet someone, and did so in a way that rarely offended anyone. "Good evening. How has your day been?" Even as he spoke it seemed his attention was drawn elsewhere, namely the small white kitten dashing across the plush rug to attach herself to another girl's back. Her owner, the keeper Nethaniel Norwich following with a fumbled apology. He doubted their fellow Ravenclaw would be too angry about the cat's antics, unless of course the kitten somehow managed to get to the rat perched on her shoulder.
Finally Castor's deep brown eyes slipped back to Pandorah, attentive once more. He had the peculiar talent of paying attention to multiple things at once while pretending all his consideration was focused on one thing. For instance, the teacher at the front of the class, or a prefect he did not want to anger by disregarding any response she had. [/blockquote]

Luckily Sethunya had a book in her hand to entertain herself in a polite diverting manner when the quiet swept over the room and the only activity there was were the cats and the bustling of students doing homework – which she seemed to not have noticed when she had walked in a little over five minutes ago.
She almost felt bad that she was already engrossed into her charms book because had anyone been talking to her she probably wouldn’t have heard them. She tends to be a fairly attentive girl that can multitask like any good student, but when she was engrossed into a book you may as well forget talking to Sethunya. Even if you through a rock at her or food she wouldn’t even notice. The girl would sit there steadily reading the words and be completely oblivious and impervious to her surroundings.
Granted Sethunya had a rat on her shoulder and many of the Ravenclaw’s had cats, she was paying more attention to her surroundings than normal as she read the words of the book. One was still run around, probably chasing a little mouse, and hopefully wouldn’t notice Petunia perched on her shoulder in all her rat glory acting much different than most animals native to herself. Seeing as how she was Sethunya’s pet she was a rather well behaved and distinguished rat considering when she got her hand on some cheese all bets were off and she was definitely true to her rodent family. Otherwise, she tended to stick with Sethy and ride along her shoulder or in her pocket, and peer at whatever Seth was doing – which sometimes gave the illusion that the rat could read.
The only problem was that Sethunya only thought there was one cat in the room, and she thought it was just the prefects; but there was actually two, one of them being under the care of the boy who had been stargazing and about to head to his room. Sethunya could hear him halt, and then suddenly her back was being pinned by claws as a cat jumped on her back. Instantly Petunia jumped into the girls lap and hid between her legs and under the book, instantly disappearing and hopefully out of the reach of the creature that had attacked her owner.
“Oh my,” Sethunya spoke in surprise before the owner of the cat pulled her off. “It’s quite alright, I’d like to say that’s the first time a cat has attacked me because of Petunia, but it’s not.” She laughed, and hoped he’d understand what Petunia was simply by her admitting she’d been attacked before; because the rat certainly wasn’t coming out from hiding for a good while just to show herself to the wizard. Despite Sethunya wishing she would just to confirm his guess, if he was guessing.

Her eyes were on Sasha but she saw the other girl move into the common room and inclined her head toward her. The other girl had a rat and Pandorah was happy that her own familiar was not keen on looking up all too often and already preoccupied. While Sasha wasn't exactly a mean kitty she was territorial and just loved to chase things. Mice and rats and birds, it didn't matter. Pan scolded her on a daily basis but the haughty thing did whatever she wanted to and ignored her master for the most part. Unless the Ravenclaw needed her for something the feline was her own person, like most cats it seemed.
Oddly enough though Pan had inclined her head the other girl hadn't even been aware of her. One brow arched and she shook her head slightly when she was finally noticed. “Hello Sethyuna. I am Pandorah, one of the Prefects for our house.” She tried for a smile but because she wasn't feeling very chipper, when that actually happened, it was half-hearted at best. Way for her to make friends in her house. Hopefully she just looked tired. “The white feline bounding about the room is Sasha. Don't mind her she is just very playful.” Her pale eyes were not unkind however, hopefully a contrast to her tired smile.
It was nice not to be alone in the common room at this time. Though honestly she really hadn't been alone, there had been someone else here but Pandorah had been rather unaware of their presence until now. By the time she realized the boy was here he had gotten up to go so she just left it alone. However it seemed his own feline wanted to play as well and bounded around the room to jump on the back of Sethyuna. Pan winced knowing just how claws felt being dug into many random body parts. Seeing that she was momentarily forgotten by the other girl she trained her attention finally on the boy speaking to her.
Castor, she knew his name better than most simply because of how the girls giggled over his hair. She had heard him speak to her but had been just a tad distracted. Now though she gave him the full force of her gaze and as well the tired smile. “My day has been full, as per usual. How about you?” She almost used his first name but felt it would be odd right now. Not that she often minded doing such a thing but these were her housemates and she really wanted to treat them with a bit more respect, hoping to gain theirs in turn. Both of the boys in the room played Quidditch she believed, a sport she loved to watch and would eagerly cheer for but one she could not do. It wasn't for lack of interest but because she was not keen on flying around in the air with a stick shoved between her thighs being the only thing to keep her from hitting the ground.
Now that she was paying more attention to Castor she had to admit he had a sort of cute charm about him, a lazy bit of elegance that she could understand girls finding a fondness with. Sethyuna she now knew because she was introduced and the girl was rather pretty, with a lovely skin tone and hair that contrasted nicely. The other boy...oh who was he? She searched her mind and finally came up with a name Nethanial. He was rather puppy like in his cuteness and she grinned in spite of herself. The boys of her house were affable and cute while the girls were fair of face with dark hair, least the ones in here. Maybe she should take note of the way people in Ravenclaw looked, to see if there was a pattern. It was always fun to find patterns in things.
Her thoughts wavered and she found herself wondering if any of them would actually like her as a person. That of course remained to be seen and this was the first of probably many experiments in that vein. Sasha had finally given up on what she was stalking and walked over to her master curling up in a ball on the floor and watching everyone like she owned the place. Her gaze was diverted by the sound of the other girl and she found herself liking Sethyuna's voice. Her own was sultry and crisp at the same time with the German accent causing it to come off a bit harsher than she ever meant to be.
“It's nice to be sitting in the common room and actually have people to talk to for once. Usually I am so busy that I completely forget people exist.” There was that, but there was also the fact that she usually, or rather used to, just not care about others. This was her year for change, a little at a time.

Normally Kitten wouldn't just attack people out of nowhere, At the last moment Nen caught a glimpse of the rat as it bolted from the girl's shoulder, into a safe spot on her lap. That would explain why his cat had decided to suddenly jump on someone, she just wanted to play. Containing the rambunctious furball in his hands, Nen adjusted the strap of his messenger bag over his shoulder, giving the girl a smile. "Well I hope it doesn't become a regular occurrence with Kitten here." he said to her, petting the white cat's head with one finger.
"Are you sure you're okay... uhh.." He realized he didn't know her name. He had seen the girl around plenty of times, as he had with most Ravenclaws. Nen was quite friendly, and over the years had met and made friends with many of his house mates. He liked to say hello to people, even if he didn't know them, it's just the way he was. So even though her name had slipped his mind, he was positive that they had spoken before, if not for a short period. He knew her name started with an S... something that sounded like Samantha... It was on the tip of his tongue, and was embarrassed that he was forgetting her name. "Sethunya! he exclaimed, having to say it quickly less he forget it suddenly again. Smiling awkwardly, he cleared his throat. "'Cuz if she cut you, I'm not too bad at healing spells. He felt bad enough already about his cat attacking her, hopefully she wasn't bleeding as well.

Castor watched the comings and goings and activities of his other housemates, amused and intrigued. The girls certainly belonged to the Ravenclaw house, being rather quiet and demure, not to mention intelligent and eloquent. A touch of a smile came to his lips as he thought of the contrast he and Nethaniel Norwich offered, being two somewhat rowdy boys, at least when he considered they both played a rough sport for fun. Though, Nethaniel had been stargazing until the interruption his own cat posed. Still, hearing him stumble over his words as he did was an interesting switch from the confident personalities he and his housemates exuded.
His attention abruptly brought back to the dialogue he himself had instigated, he smiled apologetically. "Of course," he said, somewhat awkwardly, realizing at once how similar he sounded to his teammate apologizing to Miss Khan. "Yes, I'm sure your days are usually filled. Unlike mine. I usually have to actively look for something to do in my free time to keep from being bored." He nodded to his broomstick. "I was out on the pitch practicing just now."
His eyes fell to his hands and his ears turned back to Nethaniel and Sethunya. Nen was terrible with names sometimes, he was sure the keeper had spoken to the quiet girl on the carpet before. He had probably just lost himself as he tried to make up for his cat attacking her. There, he had it then, his sudden rememberance of her name coming a bit loud in the otherwise quiet common room. Yes, Nethaniel had quite the personality, one apart from other Ravenclaws.
"It's busy tonight," Castor agreed to Pandorah's statement, this time much more seamlessly returning to the conversation. "I'm glad to see us all gathered here. I feel like our common room isn't used nearly as much as it should be..." He shifted in the chair to sit back, spreading his legs out in front of him. If his body matched his personality, he would most likely be a cat, some kind of big-man-in-charge tomcat, without worry and concerns. A friend of his had once suggested he register as an animagus just to see if such a guess was true, but Castor had little interest in prancing around on four legs instead of two. "I hope this means that we will continue to gather like this. I'd like to get to know each other better." He gestured to his fellow quidditch teammate. "I know Nethaniel." That much was obvious by the fact that he spoke his first name freely rather than using his last name as he usually did. "However, I don't know Miss Khan or you very well. I'd like to remedy that. After all, we're all Ravenclaws."

Her eyes branched over the direction to Pandorah when the girl introduced herself and the cat that was being playful throughout the room. She felt quite accomplished in herself for not completely losing focus and simply forgetting the fact that she wasn’t alone in the room, or forgetting that she had actually introduced herself to someone – which she had felt bad about since it took her so long to even realize that there was someone so close by for her to speak to. Nodding as the girl spoke, noting how she looked tired, or possibly slightly annoyed that it had taken her such a moment to introduce herself. “It’s nice to meet you,” she managed softly before she had been distracted by the claws in her back, granted the other girl may not have even heard her speak.
It may have seemed quite strange to those who didn’t realize that she was the proud owner of a rat, that she had been so calm about a feline attacking her with sharp claws. Sethunya new more than well that once a cat noticed the rat perched on her shoulder they always wanted to come and “play”, so it almost became a daily occurrence that she was attacked… Granted the rat was not always perched on her shoulder, but sometimes hanging out of her pocket. She could feel little feet press down on her thigh as the rat slowly bopped her head out from under the book to look at the cat in the boy’s hand – simply to make sure it was safe for her to come out or not – but seeing as how the rat slipped back into hiding she obviously decided it was still not safe.
A smile formed on the girl’s lips as she looked up at the boy, he looked familiar, and she could bet a million to one, that she had come across his path more than once around the common room or the corridors of Hogwarts. Wait, she had, his name was Nethaniel or something of that sort… He played Quidditch. Oh how she was fascinated by quidditch, but she removed that thought from her mind as of now to focus on him apologizing endlessly about Kitten attacking her. “It is not a problem,” she reassured him by nodding. She let out a soft laugh when the boy took a moment to recall her name, which she didn’t mind at all, her name was a tad bit unusual… “No need to break out the spells,” she laughed. “A few little, harmless, playful scratches never hurt anyone.” Assuming, that is, that the cat was healthy, which she was certain he wouldn’t bring an unhealthy playful cat around Hogwarts.
Gently she closed her book, as she gathered that she wouldn’t go back to reading it again for a good while seeing as how the common room had become a bit busier and there was a lot more conversation buzzing around. Giving Nethaniel another reassuring smile she looked around the room, her eyes falling over to where Pandorah and another fellow sat talking. She recognized his face, but she couldn’t place anything else to the boy, apart from maybe what she guessed was his surname… Of course, she wasn’t always that good at remembering names to faces, or vice versa. Though as soon as her gaze fell on them she had heard her name being spoken, she tuned her ears into listening to their conversation hoping that it wasn’t something too private.
Luckily the boy was just speaking about getting to know more Ravenclaws, which made since. They were all Ravenclaws, and it went without saying that they certainly would come into contact with one another more often if they used the common room to study or stargaze. This was a common ground, a place where they could all be themselves and just study in groups or in peace and they all knew that they all had something in common with the person next to them or across the room from them. It was actually kind of nice.

She too was becoming distracted by the other Ravenclaw's in the room. Nethaniel and Sethyuna were speaking amongst themselves however, thanks to what the young mans familiar had done to the girl. Pandorah wondered if they would continue to get along. Would one such occurrence change everything? Life was like that, good or ill, a simple misstep and you could meet a person, fall on your face or absolutely nothing would happen at all. Even though she was an Arithmancer she knew that you could only predict anything so far. She never tempted fate too much by going more then a few days or for specific things. Like when she had predicted her first kiss...which had already happened. A faint blush colored her pale cheeks and she pursed her lips in annoyance.
While Pan wasn't big on flying herself she had respect for those that could. Her gaze lingered on Castor's broom a moment and she nodded, lost in thought once more. It seems she was often lost in her own mind, probably one of the reasons that others thought she was a haughty bitch. “You are right Castor, we are rarely in here much. I wonder why that is...?” The last word trailed off and she looked around the room curiously. Were they just an insular house in general or was there a reason for the others not being around each other? She could sit here and ponder that, ask every one of her house mates or just shrug her shoulders and move on, the latter of which she did.
Blinking again, bringing herself back to the present she frowned deeply and nodded to Castor. Perhaps she was just really tired? Her mind was wandering far too much right now and it was bothering her. Here she was wanting to meet and greet her fellow Ravenclaw's and all she was doing was barely talking and zoning out. The leggy brunette felt she was being rather rude but couldn't seem to find a reason to stop behaving the way she was. Perhaps she should just excuse herself and try doing this thing on another night, another time. Meeting them one by one and talking to them. Though that would seem rather like an interview and even worse then the debacle she was making of this.
Pandorah knew she would just have to make up for her actions at a later date, if she cared then. Her mind had been such a mess as of late she wasn't even sure she knew how to think, or what to think anymore. Standing up she smoothed out her skirt with her pale hands and gave Castor a slightly apologetic smile, that actually reached her eyes. “I know I was waiting here, to get to know my housemates better but I seem to not be feeling well.” Sasha ran up to her and began to curl around her ankles sensing her mistresses upset. “So I must go up to my room and rest for the night. Perhaps we can do this again sometime, or you and I could talk some more? I think I would like that you seem terribly interesting.” She favored him with a gentle smile this time and reached down to reflexively stroke the back of the Turkish Angora's fur. “So, I hope you can forgive me,” she turned to face the other two in the room with them, “I also hope you two can forgive me as well. I need to bow out for this night.” With a half bow she nodded at Castor once more and ascended the staircase to the room she shared with several other Ravenclaw girls of her year.
OOC: Pan exits the thread. She has a thread with Castor so I figured going too much farther in this one would conflict.)
