The rain had been falling all morning with its small but persistent drops upon anything and everything it could. The young librarian found himself outside the library on such a morning after helping and now he was headed back to the library. The wonderful place with all those beautiful books and not so lovely students. He shook his head at that, it was absolutely horrid. When did he ever get such thoughts of young men and women who he just barely knew? That surely wasn't right, not right at all.
He looked out at the now damp grounds thanks to all the rain, giving everything almost a completely new look. Now, Aindriu found himself going in a completely different direction. A new direction yes, but he told himself that he was most definitely headed back to the library. Well, in truth he was this would just take quite a bit longer. Oh, how bad all this was, all of it so absolutely horrible that he was having such thoughts and performing such actions.
Then that was all pushed aside, surprisingly enough, when the blond made his way through the covered walkways surrounding the courtyard. This had been the whole reason for even coming this way, just to see the rain. Many would probably laugh at him for standing out in the damp cold just to watch the rain fall while most others stayed inside on such days. His hands gripping onto the long sleeves of his cream sweater as he watched the little rain growing a bit more as they continued to fall. He really should be on his way, but the rain it wasn't everyday he could steal a few moments to come see it.

Where is she? Sethunya thought as she shoved her hands in her pockets. They were empty, and her shoulder had nothing on it. This was quite unusual for Sethunya because for most of her day she had at least one constant companion, either on her shoulder or in her pockets, but today was not the same. So far, she only went through half the day and she didn’t even realize, until she was in the library, that she was missing something that she always had no matter what. It never failed that the little rat would be in her pockets, then work her way up to her shoulder somehow. Now, Sethunya was frantic and worried about her little rat friend, especially since she seems to always find the attention of cats; which was not a safe experience without Sethunya there to monitor the situation. Petunia, the little rat, was somewhere in Hogwarts on her own; but Petu was a smart rat.
But that fact was of absolutely no comfort to Sethunya at the moment.
Her only concern now, was finding her Petu. The first place she had looked, after scoping through the whole of the library, was looking through the common room and the room she shared with several other girls. Nothing had come up, so leaving her things in the room she took her leave and was now walking the massive halls looking for the black and white rat that was never not around. This could take forever seeing as how Hogwarts was a big school, and there were a lot of halls… She could have sworn she had seen that picture for the umpteenth time. She was beginning to feel sick, and her heart was beating a mile a minute. There was absolutely no way she was going to find her rat in Hogwarts… Or at least not on her own, but she didn’t know enough people to be troublesome enough to ask if they could assist her; so she had to do it one her own.
It was wearing the girl down; she was on the verge of tears… She knew that one day the rat would have to leave her, but being in Hogwarts, with cats practically swarming the place, she’d rather her pet pass away in a different way than cats or at Hogwarts at all. But right now she just wanted to find the creature; she could worry about that later, unless that was the outcome… It would be most unfortunate if so, though. Sethunya didn’t like any kind of stressful situation, and she especially didn’t like them when they involved her Petunia in any kind of form, especially if it meant her Petunia being lost, possibly eaten, or if playing took a wicked turn. It just… It didn’t make Sethunya feel good, it always made her think of the worst, and she loathed thinking about the worst things possible.
It didn’t help either, when she was walking in circles.
Quickly she turned a corner, walked down the hall, finally she saw different pictures on the wall; which made her happy for a split moment because she was no longer going down the same hall over and over again. With another turn of the corner she found herself looking out to the courtyard… Luckily she wasn’t right in the way of the rain… And she knew that her rat would not be there, simply because she knew Petunia hated the rain, but that didn’t mean the rat wasn’t hiding in the dry spot somewhere through this area. “Oh, Petu, where could you be?” She muttered to herself, not really paying any attention outside of looking for her rat.

The soft lullaby of rain hit the courtyard's walkways, streaming downward into the open puddles embedded into the dirt. There was something rustic about the rain, and it soothed Noah's nerves just thinking about it. He had originally intended to make his way to the quidditch field, to practice alone; to finally get over his fear of getting on brooms. When the weather was bad like this, he knew the field would be emptied and it often saved him from humiliation. Noah had planned on taking a detour from one of his classes, stopping short of the subtle canopy of the walkway, deciding whether or not to commit himself to being soaked. It was too late now. As if about to jump into a six-foot trench, he took a deep breath and walked right out into the rain.
He felt stunned by the cold impact on his exposed flesh, feeling the liquid soak into his dry hair. There was something about being touched by rain that made him shiver, and quietly he tilted his head back to feel the rain upon the warmth of his cheeks. Watching upward, he saw the single rain drops – allowing one to enter in his right eye, feeling it blur his vision for a second. Compared to most students – and mostly males – he probably looked absolutely mad. Noah had no sense of time, nor the decency to notice that he was getting soaked. Like tiny daggers he felt the gaze of his peers and he dropped his head, his pale eyes darting outward. Some students used their books to cover their head, a makeshift umbrella. However, he paused his focus to notice that there were two people in particular.
One looked slightly older, staring distantly off into the rain, but having yet to take notice of the Hufflepuff. Another was a female, her face skewed as though she had just found out bad news. But the rest of people at Hogwarts? They were all watching Noah, expecting him to move, to go anywhere but stand there stupidly within the midst of the rain. He felt ashamed for being so awkward like this, for randomly enjoying the cold chill of the rain. Although his emotions were at an all time low, he offered a sort of clever smirk, as if nothing had happened. Turning sharply on his foot, he moved to turn around, heading in the direction of the walkway.
As he stepped back in, he listened to the heavy patter of his wet clothes depositing liquid on the ground. He lifted his wet, cold hand, shivering. Even his lips looked a little purple, but he did not move, watching students come and go with an almost vicious gaze. His eyes had a dark shadow hovering over them, and he shifted them to Sethunya, piercing the female with his gaze. But it didn't stop there, it also went to the stoic male that was gazing outward, oblivious to Noah's presence.
A sort of humbled giggle left him.

Aindriu had easily been staring at the rain for more than the 'few moments' he had promised himself. Oh and with his luck he probably had some horrible look on his face the whole time too. It made the young man worry, he just wanted to run off and hide. Well, he didn't even know if anyone had really noticed. He shook his head trying to come back to the courtyard. When did so many students start coming through? Oh dear, he had been not paying any attention at all.
The blond noticed the worried young student, she looked so upset. Could he help her? Well, he helped students daily, but that was only in the library though he hadn't even heard her problem yet. No, he could do this..... that's right he could, most definitely. Maybe.
"Are you alright?" he asked not really knowing where to start with the girl. I mean to him, she most definitely did not look 'alright', but then again he could be putting himself in places he did not belong. Aindriu looked around watching other students pass to escape the weather. He noticed the one boy giving her an odd look. Was he the reason she was so upset? Oh, Aindriu hoped not because he was never good with conflict and if it was conflict... oh that would just not be good at all.

The brunette girl, whose hair was now falling out of the tight bun she always had it in, around her face in loose messy curls, hadn’t really been paying attention to anything or anyone else apart from looking around aimlessly and upset for her Petunia. She wasn’t having much luck, especially since she’d been doing her best looking in places she knew Petunia would frequent, she was half tempted to give up and hope the little rat would eventually find her… But she felt if she didn’t look, and her rat never came to her, she’d be even more upset and disappointed because that would mean… Don’t think about it, Seth, just don’t think like that. She’s fine, she’s okay, there’s nothing to worry about. But, of course, Sethunya couldn’t help but worry for her familiar.
Sethunya had actually been so wrapped up in what she was doing that she had almost missed the blond boy that was talking to her. He looked fairly young, and had she not recognized him as the librarian, she would have probably mistaken him as a student. Of course, Sethunya knew very little of the librarian, apart from his name, his cat, the house he had once represented, and his carefree though reserved demeanor. She pegged him to have gone mostly unnoticed through school, and some of his life… But she felt rude for even thinking that, and she almost found herself apologizing for words unspoken. She wasn’t normally this forward in her thoughts about people, but she was wrapped up in finding her pet… Wait, she was in the library earlier, and this man does have a cat. She practically gasped for air as she thought, oh no, no, no… It’s couldn’t be his cat, could it? But she was jumping to conclusions that her rat was already dead...
“Oh, yes… I’m quite alright, I suppose,” she lied, simply because she feared if she spoke the truth she’d feel like she was already giving his cat the blame, and she wasn’t for certain that his little familiar was to blame to begin with. She wasn’t the type to outwardly blame someone or something of something they may not have done. Sethunya was tempted to just dismiss herself and walk away, continuing to look about, but she had a feeling this librarian would know she was lying just by looking at her face; seeing as how she was so distraught that she couldn’t mask her face during her white lie. “Actually, I’ve come to lose my familiar. Normally she’s perched on my shoulder or sleeping in my pocket…” Sethunya sighed, “She’s a black and white rat named Petunia, but normally she’s never gone from me so I’m not sure where she could have scampered off to.”
The girl looked around a bit, her eyes pausing on a figure that seemed to be looking in her direction, though she didn’t look long enough to catch what he looked like… She assumed it was a he… Sethunya turned her attention back on the blond before her… “You haven’t, by chance, seen a black and white rat skittering about, have you?” She had a feeling that he probably hadn’t, most people probably hadn’t… Even Sethunya didn’t know what the rat did when she was away from her, which was normally at night while the girl was sleeping. Sethunya’s facial expression distorted into a semi-hopeful frown as she awaited his answer… If he had then maybe he could direct her to the direction of her familiar and then she could go on her way…
Otherwise, Sethunya would have to look for the rat between her classes… And maybe even sneak after hours to look for her if she didn’t turn up. Of course, Sethunya wasn’t actually considering that – actually she really was – but if she continued to the idea would probably make it known on her face or in her eyes, so she had to dismiss it while in the presence of a faculty member.

Every now and then he could feel the cold air weave itself into his robes, chilling his flesh and then working down to the marrow of his bones. Perhaps he was a masochist that way, allowing himself the possibility of catching a cold. Standing still like this, he figured his original plan to try and crawl onto a broom – but what if he succeeded? Surely he would suffer immensely feet above the ground, moving in any direction. The realization that his plan was idiotic, caused him to loiter. He didn't want to go back into the large castle without making sure that his clothing didn't leave a water trail behind. Just seconds ago he was laughing at something or someone, but it appeared the noise coming from him died down. Even his eyes were shifted in another direction, paying no mind to the slightly older male and the female. Instead, he reached one hand over so that he could remove the dark robes from his body.
Now he was left to reveal the typical uniform, white shirt adorned beneath a vest, accompanied by a black and yellow tie that hung loosely around his neck. Only the front-side of his second layers appeared to be mostly damp, the rest of him somewhat dry. Acting like there was a kink in his back, he rolled back his shoulders before bringing the robe forward. Gently, he twisted the fabric into his hands, watching as excess water started to drip onto the cement below. Although he was doing his own thing, he was still in earshot of the two people conversing. The girl sounded a little nervous, or frantic? He had a hard time deciphering tones these days.
A rat had gone missing, one named Petunia, he had heard it all. With his head slightly craned down, he looked even more focused on trying to dry out his robe. But his eyes were wandering, caressing over the courtyard's walkway, seeing no movement in either corner. Noah would have personally interjected that Hogwarts should disallow pets for this type of situation, and they weren't particularly always useful – not unless it was an Owl. He knew other wizards and witches would argue that they were handy in the use of spells, catching things a human eye can't. Yet, was it unrealistic? Pets got lost, and though he knew that some were capable of summoning back to their side.... he was sure a student wasn't.
When the last droplet of water left his robes, he unrolled it and placed it back on. He didn't want to offer his help to the girl, because he really didn't care whether she found it or not. Sometimes Noah wasn't sure why he was so coldhearted, but if she was irresponsible enough to lose it in the first place; she probably should take the consequences. Noah smiled quite cryptically to himself, his eyes shifting to look the two over again, taking his time.

The blond shivered slightly as the rain shifted with the wind seeming to hit him just right. Now he was trying to figure why it had seemed so important to come out here instead of going to the library where there was most certainly less rain. Well, it had seemed like a good idea at the time.
At first Aindriu took the girl's words at face value, being that he wasn't really paying enough attention to her evidently. Well at least that was the answer, right? How else would he had missed the clearly upset girl now explaining of her poor lost rat. The young librarian never had a rat, because he wasn't sure how Vanity would take that and when he was living at home his mother would have never stood for such a thing.
"I haven't" the young man probably looking almost as upset as the young student, just thinking their was a rat somewhere and not everyone was so nice. "I'll help you look," Aindriu stated at once of the lost creature, "I mean I can help.... if you want." So much for such a declarative statement after that. He looked around that one student still there playing with his robes in some odd fashion. Did he take the girl's rat? I mean he..... no no no, Aindriu dismissed the thought quickly as it came. There was certainly no way he could blame such innocent students just because they were there. That was just absolutely horrible, just horrible.

Sethunya was beyond worried now, she was absolutely freaked out. The rat was her constant companion, meaning the little creature hardly ever left Sethunya to venture on her own. Heck, Sethunya was beyond freaked; she was already thinking the worst of things that could happen to a poor little defenseless rat in school where cats had the roam of the halls, as well as some not so nice students. She was quite uncomfortable with the thought and sighed openly, her eyes laced with worry and her bottom lip quavering as she thought about the worst. She loathed thinking like this, but it wouldn’t have been a problem if she was paying better attention instead of simply assuming that her familiar was there with her. Sethunya wasn’t actually sure where the little rat had gone, or exactly where she had lost her, but she hated that she had done so. Careless was something that Sethunya rarely was, but today was seemingly one of the worst days she’s had in a really long time.
Having already been looking around the school for hours, she suspected that she had probably even missed a class or two without even noticing… But she would most definitely notice a detention slip when it came time. Where is Petunia? She couldn’t help but find herself thinking this pleading thought. She hated feeling helpless and she most certainly hated losing the friend that had been by her side since the very beginning. There was no doubt tears dwelling in her eyes as she tried to focus on the words the librarian had been saying.
He hadn’t seen the rat either, but he was offering his help in finding her if she needed it. Sethunya normally wouldn’t ask people for help, but she was desperate to find her pet. “You don’t mind?” She said with her voice soft and worried. “I don’t want to take up your day just to find my Petunia,” she bit her bottom lip. She didn’t want to impose, the librarian was probably on his break and needed to get back to work and she didn’t want to take him away from that just to find a little black and white rat named Petunia – which couldn’t be too hard to find if she still had the little rad ribbon tied around her neck, but it was loose enough for the creature to slip out of so it was a fat chance that they would find her with the ribbon.
“It would be incredibly nice,” she tried smile, “Would probably be easier with a fresh set of eyes.” She said this with nervous hesitation for she really didn’t want to bother the librarian just to help her find a rat… Her parents had said that having a rat as a pet would find itself to be difficult so she needed to be very careful if she wanted this to work. Although she knew rats normally ventured on their own, hers had a different way of acting and was always where she was for the most part… If anything were to happen to Petunia, she had the small comfort that where ever she was she may be in a better place. Of course, that was only an extremely small comfort.
