This was turning out to be one of the most boring evenings he'd ever experienced while at Hogwarts! He would go hunt for the rest of the Marauders soon to plan and cause some trouble! If James had to sit still for a moment longer...he would surely die from boredom.
The boy was sprawled out in the grass, his tie shoved into his pocket --rather than tied about his neck-- and the black robes used as a barrier between himself and the grass. Sometimes he used them more as a blanket than a part of his uniform.
A soft breeze ruffled the already-mussed ebony hair upon his head, and James Potter released an exasperated sign. Troll bogeys and Hippogriff piss! He'd even tried doing some homework, this was the extent of his boredom; but the books were now shoved into the over-sized pockets of his robes, hidden from sight.
He knew that if he wanted more excitement in his evening, he had to get off his arse and find something to do...but not yet. James was lazy, and therefore he would wallow in his boredom a little longer. Just long enough for it to affect him to a point where he would simply have to jump into action.
But for the time being, he would lay there and will the excitement to come to him. His eyes were closed, and he was biting his lower lip absently. Common excitement! Come to daddy! He was an important person, was he not? Therefore it made complete sense to James that excitement should come to him, rather than him having to get up and go looking for it. It made logical sense...right?
Well, Moony was better at logic that himself. He would simply have to ask the werewolf one of these days if what he was thinking in this very moment made any sense at all. Knowing Remus though...he'd likely roll his eyes and sigh at James' supposed-self-centered-ness.
James snickered and pushed himself to a sitting position, taking a look around the field. Where was everyone?! Where was the action?! He almost felt a little hurt and a little left out. Almost.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Sirius Black was in detention, hah, nothing new in that. He was lazily sprawled on one of the chairs in McGonagall's office, writing lines again, but his eyes where nowhere on the parchment which he was scribbling on. They were glued right above the professor's head, on the wall where she had a clock, his gray eyes following every thick of it's hands and his heart beat echoing the barely audible sound. He just wanted it to go already so he'd leave old McGoggles in peace and run off to find his friends, but McGoggles didn't want to know, she stared down her spectacles that rested on her flaring nostrils, and told him he had to remain till the very last second. Sometimes Sirius wondered if McGonogall had him all this time in detention only because she liked having him around. Well, Sirius couldn't deny it, he had a very special spot for dear old McGoggles in his heart too.
When the clock struck eight, Sirius pushed his seat, scrambled out of his chair and ran out of McGonogall's office, blowing an adieu kiss over his shoulder, and telling his Head of House that he'd see her again, tomorrow, at the same time - it was a date. The shouts that followed him reminded Black that it was detention, not a date, but he knew McGonagall was trying not to laugh, he could hear it in her voice as he ran down the corridors.
Two minutes later, Sirius burst through the heavy double doors and out into the lawns like a madman. He heaved a great breath into his chest, and let out a content sigh. He was free. He was a free man for today. Enough school and detention, he had all the lovely evening stretching before him, like a gorgeous inviting hand beckoning him forward.
Gaining back his sanity with the fresh air, Sirius walked down the steps that brought him down onto the Hogwarts Lawn. Now, where were his friends? He started walking forward, looking for them while loosening his tie from his neck and leaving it to hang round his shoulders like a pretty scarf.
Sirius stopped in his tracks. He didn't know what made him stop - his body just did so on it's own. His brows drew together, the little hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and his ears suddenly itched him. Sirius scratched his left earlobe. Someone called excitement, trouble? Someone did, didn't they? Sirius sniffed the air of the evening. For some odd reason he was expecting to get a whiff of something, like a whiff of - Sirius stuck his nose up in the air sniffing - he sniffed harder - and his eyes fell on a patch of lawn on his far right - James.
Sirius bounded to his friend like a puppy happy to find his owner. "There you are" said Sirius, standing behind James's head and looking upside down at him grinning. They shared like a telepathic connection, one of those big words Remus liked to use, Sirius couldn't even spell it properly, or acted like he couldn't - he called it telepathetic,

It was the middle of the afternoon, class was out, the sun was high in the sky, and he could see players flying over the quidditch pitch in the distance. Remus was considering heading out to the lawn through the courtyard in order to find a nice quiet tree to sit beneath and read a book.
It was nearing the middle of September, and all ready he had completed three books in between his school work and trouble-making. Granted, they were a bit behind on their pranks this year. He knew that Sirius and James had pulled some pranks on their own, and why wouldn't they? He often became so absorbed and lost in his studies that by the time he realized something was happening, it was just the aftermath of whatever stunt they had pulled.
But that was their nature. They were bundles of boundless chaotic energy-- like Peeves. Always looking for the next way to annoy and to amuse a crowd. They liked to gather spectators, he knew, and if it was a private event, it was always easy to tell who had done it. There was no one else in the school who would do some of the outrageous, daredevil things that they did. Remus usually avoided any real trouble himself.
And that was how he became a prefect. He knew when too much was too much. He knew when something had gone too far; he suspected he got the position in order to try to keep his two friends in line, but he was so afraid of their teasing and rejection that he often let them get away with the things he should punish them for (or he'd dock points where they couldn't see or hear.) He sighed.
Only then did he see his two friends. He smiled and walked over to them, standing a bit off (he didn't want to scare Sirius and get punched in the face. He'd seen that happen to some poor sod once.) "How did I know I would find you two out here?"

It was one of those rare afternoons that Severus Snape actually enjoyed. He was hardly much of an outdoors person, but the day was not as offending as it could have been. The sun was soft as though it's brightness had come through a filter of some sort and the sky was heavy with non-threatening clouds. A slight breeze moved across the rolling landscape of Hogwarts grounds, tinged with a chill that spoke of colder weather on it's way.
Severus sat against a tree, sunlight dappled through the leaves and casting a strange pattern against the ground and his lean frame. He was on the periphery of the other students, just outside of where they mingled, close enough to see them, but far enough that he did not hear their mindless banter. Severus rather intended to keep it that way.,
Things had been improving, he and Lily were now on speaking terms again, though he could tell that something between them had changed. He was not sure if they would ever be as close as they once were, but there was a certain elation in not being ignored by her when they passed in the corridors anymore.
The other Slytherins had started to leave him alone after he had stopped giving them assistance on the various things they had come to him about before. He was not being useful anymore, so they did not need him, although Severus knew that he was going to have to play a very tricky game in order to circumvent the attentions of that darker group with whom he had almost affiliated. He simply knew too much to not keep a close eye on, and he was wary of what would happen in the coming months.
Not so much for himself of course, but if Lily were somehow tangled into this it could mean very bad things. Yes, Severus had gotten himself into a very precarious position.
The long haired Slytherin flipped the page of the book on curses and counters taken from the library's restricted section. He had been given permission by the potions professor in order to complete a sort of personal project he had been working on. On his other side a roll of parchment sat, full of neat, angular, cursive script where he had been writing down his notes.
He had read extensively about potions that acted as a counteragent to spell damage caused by curses, and had been curious as to the exact process one would go about making such a antidote. His professor had been more than happy to sign for him, excited about seeing the results as well. However as it were after several weeks of diligent study Severus was only on the notes stage, he had yet to go about putting it into practice and assembling the actual potion itself.
He did not notice a gathering of marauders (which rarely meant any good for anyone) further off, he was too absorbed in his book to notice much of anything.

James heaved a sigh, close to reaching for his wand and trying out either Accio Excitement or Accio Marauders! The small fraction of his brain dedicated to logic whispered that it was a waste of time and energy, for the Accio spell was not meant to be used in that manner. Then, as if to redeem itself, it suggested that he simply Accio his broom! Flying was exciting, right?!
He was actually reaching for his wand when he heard someone approach from behind. James tilted his head back and found himself looking up at Sirius face. His face split into a grin, "Mate! I nearly died from boredom! It was horrible..." He grin he kept on his face stated that it hadn't been that horrible after all, but he didn't are.
"Let's do some--!"
Just when he'd been about to suggest that they go find Moony, he heard the boy's voice speak from nearby! Well damn! His mental chanting had worked after all! Was it possible that he'd learned to perform magic without the use of his wand somehow?! James nearly laughed aloud as he pictured Sirius excitement, and the roll of Remus eyes if he were to speak of this theory aloud.
James sprang into action, easily pushing himself up. In moments he was standing and slapping Sirius on the back, "Moony...get your arse over here..." Oh, he was in a great mood now. With his bestest friends around, he felt as if he could conquer the worlds. He felt as if sleep would never be necessary!
"I was just sayin' to Padfoot that we should do something." There was the glint of mischief in his eyes that Moony and Padfoot would be quite familiar with. James was itching to do something...And it had better not be something minor!
The boy picked up the robe he'd used as a blanket, and lazily pulled it on while taking a look around the lawn. There was a number of students here and there...but none of them sparked any interest in the Gryffindor.
Until his eyes latched onto a darker figure seated under a tree. Who else was likely to be on their own, detached from all activity like that? James completely disregarded the fact that he'd been doing just the same minute earlier, "Why...is that Snivellus over there?"

i've reclaimed the use of my imagination for better or for worse, i've yet to know
God damn it, why did school have to be such a bloody bore?
Peter figured it was better than being at home, with his mother's relatively new found indifference and his father, pushing and pressuring for better grades, better goals, and a better son. Quite frankly, he preferred Hogwarts, even at it's most boring, to the most exciting days at home. That was mostly because exciting days at home didn't really exist, though...
In any case, Peter was bored. He'd written about two paragraphs of an essay for Defence Against the Dark Arts, then boredom had struck, and he'd started wondering why he was even bothering with the essay in question, when it wasn't due for another week. Peter was not a huge procrastinator, but, Merlin's balls, it could wait a day. He packed his things up while humming a vague, disjointed tune, put his things up in his dorm, and then.... started on a walk. Hardly exciting, but it was better than writing that dreaded essay on counter-jinxes... He decided to head down to the grounds, to try to enjoy the nice day while it lasted.
As he walked, he vaguely wondered where the marauders were. He hadn't seen much of them since the school year had began, which was... mildly unsettling. First, for the fact that he was worried about them getting tired of him. His poorly placed jokes, his timid attitude, his weird and sometimes dark sense of humor. He'd worried since second year that they'd get tired of him. They were all far more interesting than he was. He counted them as the siblings he'd never had, but sometimes wondered whether they felt that way about him. Sometimes, he could tell himself that yes, of course, they loved him to death! Sometimes, he could believe that they liked him for him, that they counted him as family. Sometimes, he felt like he counted, like he really mattered to them. Most times, however, this was not the case. Most times, he felt disposable. The fact that he was included did leaps and bounds for his self esteem, but those rare times when he wasn't included, or invited, or any of that... he got a strong sense of self-loathing. He wanted to be better. Cooler. For them. For himself.
He couldn't, though, and it was the root of all of his problems, it seemed. He didn't understand why people wouldn't care for James or Sirius or Remus, even. He did understand, however, why people might not like him. He had his faults, and they were faults that he was very much aware of. There were times, however, when Peter couldn't pick out a single thing he disliked about James and Sirius, especially. Their acceptance of him didn't make sense to him. They screamed 'cool' where he certainly did not. It still baffled him, after six years. He had no idea what they'd seen in him.
As he headed out of the double doors, he reached up a hand to pat down his dark-blonde hair, smoothing it forward, making sure there were no odd bits of hair that stuck up like it tended to do. He took in a long breath of air before starting his way across the grounds. His gait was somewhat bouncy - Peter was clearly pleased to be out and about. His gaze flitted across the many students who had opted to spend the evening outside as opposed to in, and he was suddenly grateful he hadn't stayed up in Gryffindor tower. This feeling was only amplified as he laid eyes on the marauders several yards away. With a grin, he approached them, close enough to hear James mention Snape. His eye immediately darted around until he spotted him, and he couldn't help but give a bit of a smirk. He had good timing, apparently.
As he came closer, he cleared his throat slightly and said, "'Lo, guys," Brightly, with that excited edge. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Sirius ginned at James, watching the other Gryffindor sprawled on the lawn at his feet. Sirius rocked a little forward on his toes, pushing a shadow over James's sight "Get up already mate, we can't have you bored" he said still grinning ear to ear to his best friend.
Sirius and James communicated in a series of signs, half-finished sentences or simply one word sentences. Their telepatheticness gave them the ability to think on the same wavelength, words where just a nuisance in the middle "Yeah, mate, let's" he beamed.
When James stood up and slapped Sirius on his back, Sirius put an arm round his friends shoulder. He grinned from James to the approaching Remus, " Scared of me, Moony? ", laughed Sirius, standing by James's side and waving Remus over. "Get 'ere you, I won't punch you" he grinned to his other best friend, beckoning him.
"Oh it must be your Prefect Senses" Sirius mused, his brows furrowing in mock- seriousness " They must have bleeped when we were in range." Sirius said, waving a little his hand, and he turned to James, "See, it's like I told you yesterday. I knew your underpants were bugged." he said, laughing a little through his nose.
Sirius's good mood bloomed in the presence of his friends. He loved when they all gathered. They just made all him happy, like he was high from their presence.
His great mood only faltered slightly as Peter popped in their circle. Sirius shot him one look, and than just disinterestedly looked away. He never was especially fond of Peter, he just tagged along, and Sirius couldn't remember anymore why they even let him in the first place. He grunted a " Hey" in welcome, and looked over to where Snape was sitting in his tree, finding it much more interesting.
Sirius wrinkled a little his nose in Snape's direction. "Ah, so that was the smell, SNIVVY SMELLIN' LIKE A PRIVY" said Sirius, each word getting louder and louder till the last part of his sentence was a shout over the lawns, intended for their muse to hear them.

He was concentrated, writing fervidly like someone just on the brink of a breakthrough. Things were starting to fall into place and he knew that after countless failed formulas, this one was showing the most promise. He rapidly calculated ingredients and reactions and catalysts with his facile mind, lining them up on the paper in scratchy handwriting that spoke of his haste. The Slytherin boy was bent over his notes, dark hair hanging in curtains around his face as his quill scratched against the parchment, jaunty black scrawl filling the entire page.
There was nothing else that could break his concentration and set him on the alert as fast as the voices of Potter and Black. It was an immediate response, his whole body froze, mid-sentence, tensing up as he straightened from his position. He turned with a fiercely mistrustful gaze, long fingers already wrapped around the hemlock wand in his pocket. Obsidian eyes narrowed and he regarded them with a long calculative glare.
Severus sneered at Black's childish taunt and his hand twitched, yearning to use some severely mutilating curse to sever the very tongue from his mouth. Pure, unadulterated hatred, cold as ice lay like a heavy stone in the pit of his stomach as he carefully wrapped up the precious notes to the counter-agent potion and stood. Severus slipped the ratty looking schoolbag over his shoulder, watching the group intently as though calculating what they would do.
Finally he deemed that he should just leave, surely there were more interesting things to do than bother him on a day like this. This type of day seemed tailor made for the kind of mischief they got into.
Giving the group a very rude gesture they surely would not miss, he turned to head back towards the castle.
----
Notes: I can't really imagine Severus engaging in a yelling match across the yard in public with them. XD But he did insult them rudely! So maybe it will piss them off!

"Doing something" in James Potter's book meant one of three things. They were going to harass someone- likely Severus Snape. They were going to chase girls and try to get laid. Or they were going to get plastered in the Gryffindor common room with some vodka Sirius had smuggled in. Only the latter of the three options actually appealed to him, but it was too early to be drinking (but it was five o'clock somewhere), so he resigned himself to the fact that it was going to be one of the first two. Either way, he wanted to be counted out.
Sirius's comments made him want to roll his eyes, but he restrained himself. He knew that Sirius was just being Sirius, and he would not bite the hand that got him free alcohol. Seriously, that stuff was expensive. If it weren't for James and Sirius, he'd have never touched a glass. It was far too expensive of a habit to even consider it as a way of life as some people had. He knew his mother and father nursed the bottles significantly more after he'd been bitten...
He smiled pleasantly at Peter when the boy joined their group. He could tell that Sirius wasn't all too pleased, and he hoped that Peter wouldn't be able to tell... though he suspected he would. How could he not? His eagerness to hang out with James and Sirius was never met with as much enthusiasm as it was when Remus joined them, and Remus often felt like an outsider, so he couldn't have imagined what went through their friends' heads. Well, if James and Sirius weren't going to step up, Remus would.
"Hey, Wormtail," he greeted the boy, friendly as always, but at the question about Severus, he faltered, "Oh, you know James and Sirius... They see Snivellus, and they just have to do something about his presence," Remus had no personal grudge with Severus Snape, and he never fully understood why the hate between them even existed. He knew that Severus wasn't defenseless, and he wasn't going to back down to James and Sirius, and it wasn't as if they didn't both antagonize each other. But... why?
He preferred to stay out of it, and that was what he was going to do on this particular day. And when Severus sent them all a rather rude gesture, he knew it wasn't going to go ignored. He put a hand to his forehead, wanting to disappear on the spot. He couldn't punish his friends for this, even though he couldn't defend whatever it was they were going to do about it, either.

Peter joined them moments before he'd spotted Snivellus, as if he'd really managed to Accio his friends! Though he wasn't as ecstatic about seeing Wormtail as he was seeing Moony and Padfoot, he would still greet the fourth Marauder. James gave him a nod and a wave.
His attention had then fully gone to the Hogwarts student he liked to torment most. Severus Snape. The Gryffindor's nose wrinkled as he thought of the other boy's pale skin, and greasy hair
He couldn't agree more with Sirius! 'Ah, so that was the smell, SNIVVY SMELLIN' LIKE A PRIVY' it was brilliant! James burst into a bout of laughter, holding his stomach. "Oh that was good. Too good!" James gave Padfoot a wink, then grinned at Moony and Wormtail. Times like this, of the four of them together...he wouldn't trade them for anything.
His attention then went back to Snivellus just in time to see him start packing his things. Prongs was about to yell something about Severus being a bloody coward, when he noticed the gesture as the Slytherin tried to depart. His eyes went wide, and his mouth fell open. Sometimes he was amazed at the bravery the other boy could display. Amazed, and then enraged. His eyes narrowed as his lips turned into a frown. Oh he was not getting away with that...
"COME BACK HERE YOU SLUG-BRAINED WANKER!" if the Slytherin didn't comply once he heard those words, James would simply have to take out his wand and convince him through some other means.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Sirius grinned proudly at James, ending up laughing along very quickly. Laughter over bullying Snape was very infectious. Sirius gave his friend's shoulder a squeeze in a comradely fashion. and turned to look round at Remus and Peter, looking for their amusement.
However the laughter was quickly wiped off their faces as Snape made a very rude gesture to the group of boys. Sirius eyebrows clashed together in a frown and his mouth formed a horrified small 'o' shape. "He did just not do that" said Sirius, his face going quickly from horrified to angry, and than to very angry. There seemed to be a quick pulse beating in his tight jaw too.
"That's it, James. He just signed his death sentence" Sirius said dropping his arms from around his friend's shoulders.”Let’s go get his sorry ass” Sirius said heatedly, he started to march in Snape’s direction, rolling up the sleeve’s of his school shirt, his boots making heavy angry thuds with his every step on the lawns. He knew he would be soon joined by his friends, he could hear James's footfalls not too far behind him, but Sirius was just too plain annoyed to wait up for his friend. He wanted to get that little slimy git before he ran away inside.
In a few long strong strides, Sirius had shortened the distance there was between him and the retreating figure of Snape. ”Doing rude gestures you've picked up from around, thinking your very smart when you don't even know what they mean, aren't you Snivvy. Now running away like a chicken?” called out Sirius, waving his arms out in a challenging gesture. He wasn’t very far away from Snape now. "Chicken" repeated Sirius, his mouth twisted in an angry scowl.
Sirius paused where he was, knowing quiet well he had Snape's attention now. He flexed his right hands' fingers. "Do you like chicken pie, Snivvy?" Sirius said a smirk gradcing his words while he rubbed his flexing knuckles into his other palm.

Peter had grown accustomed to the negative reactions of his fellow Marauders in the event of his arrival. It was almost as if he were some sort of pest interrupting their fun; he didn’t intend to be, of course, but it wasn’t as if that mattered. He made an effort to be less intrusive, but sometimes he just got lonely and bored, and wasn’t it the responsibility of his friends to include him and keep him feeling just the opposite of how he felt now? Of course it was his fault, not theirs. If only he could make himself a little less awkward and a little more socially acceptable - but he obviously couldn’t, and so he resigned himself to being a painful little tagalong that was rarely greeted with a smile.
As soon as he spoke up to his three friends, he noted Sirius’s reaction and his lack of interest. Recently, the other three Gryffindors made him feel extremely angry; for example, he honestly felt like knocking every one of Sirus’s teeth out at that moment, although he knew he was incapable of it. Remus made him feel a bit better, however; he was always the nice one, more merciful than his two other companions. Peter’s face went from troubled to pleased, and he nodded knowingly. He never questioned anything James and Sirius did, and had no qualms with them torturing the Slytherin; as long as it drew attention away from him and allowed him to linger in the presence of his friends, he didn’t mind it at all. Instead of focusing on the two-thirds of the company that had greeted him like some sort of outsider, he watched the events unfold in front of him. Sirius was the one to initiate, shouting over at the Slytherin; Peter snickered. Although Sirius had fouled up his mood slightly, he couldn’t help but laugh. Sirius could say the simplest things and make them hilarious. Snape seemed rightly pissed, and when he lifted his hand, Peter cocked a brow. No, there wasn’t a chance of that going unpunished. Sirius had been looking for an excuse to torment Snape, and now he had the perfect one.
Sure enough, Sirius was already rolling up his sleeves and following the other boy. With a grimace, Peter followed them with his eyes, unsure of whether or not to stay or follow; he decided on the former, before Sirius and James could get out of earshot. He was far too curious to let them torment Snape without him. He did turn to Remus, however, and inquired, "Just how ridiculous do you think this is going to get?" with a hint of amusement in his tone, before taking a few curious steps in the direction of the other two marauders.

The reactions behind him were explosive to say the least. He heard Potter yell after him, followed by Black and instantly he knew they were not going to let it be. Good. He thought viciously, turning swiftly around just in time to see Black striding angrily toward him. Let them act like the petulant children they were, he'd invented a few new curses he would just love to try out.
His obsidian eyes were practically slits and a cruel smile twisted his lips as Black taunted him, "You seem to be getting more creative everyday Black, although I have to wonder was that supposed to insult me, because if so it was a very poor attempt. May I suggest a dictionary?," His tone was cool, and he regarded the elder Black sibling in the same way one might regard a bit of mud on their shoe. But despite this calm, if not disgusted, exterior his hatred was boiling underneath his skin. "It would do to advance your vocabulary beyond the level of a first year."
His wand was out, and his long fingers gripped it tightly, every muscle in his body ready to spring to the defensive if attacked and to the offensive if Potter decided to get lippy. Really he could deal with the inane, childish taunts by Black, but his hatred for Potter was immeasurable, seeped into every cell of him. Black was one thing, loud, boastful, and imbecilic, but he was a different breed than Potter. He could understand Black and as an enemy that made him more of a threat, because he and Severus were very similar in many ways. They both knew what dark magic could do, and Black's family was the unforgiving, pureblood type that despised any and everything that did not line up with their ideals. He had heard rumors Black had run away, or been kicked out. He felt no sympathy, but he knew that Black too had an edge to him, one that knew the game of survival as well as he did, but that was where their similarities ended.
Potter however, the spoiled, miracle child of a pureblood family, had never known the things that Black and Severus had. Severus highly doubted that the boy had had a single day of want in his entire life. Even though Black was more of a threat, Severus hated Potter more than he could ever hate the other, because of Potter's arrogance and sheer ignorance.
It didn't help that he felt as thought Potter and his friends were constantly trying to turn he and Lily against each other. He may have been the one to make the awful mistake of calling his best friend that ugly name last year, but it had been them who had instigated the entire thing.
He looked over at Potter, who was now closer, too close for his liking and gave him a terrible, twisted smile, "Getting bored again are we?" His wand raised in his hand, his icy gaze flickered between the two of them.
Detestation and hatred rose up in him in a another sickly wave and he managed to growl out, "I have a few nice curses I'd love to share with you if you'd like." His voice was thick with irony and affected by his unadulterated loathing.

'Let’s go get his sorry ass'
He was only a step behind Padfoot, having sprung into action moments after the insult aimed at Snape had left his mouth. Long strides had himself and Sirius standing close to the Slytherin in no time. It was most likely that his anger had made the trip over the grass feel shorter than it had been, but he was too damn pissed to think rationally.
His wand was out and at the ready without his even realizing when he'd even reached for it. This confrontation felt different. They were all older now, having started their second last year at Hogwarts not too long ago. This situation rather than fun and entertaining, felt considerably more dangerous. It felt like a situation that would land all of them in detention for a very long time.

Challenge accepted.
A cocky grin burst forth from the seriousness and anger of his expression, and his body while remaining tense, also exuded confidence. "Snivvy Snivvy Snivvy..." he was ready to spring into action, either by forming a shield, tossing a hex, or jumping out of the way. James wanted to bounce on the spot from the adrenaline and the amounts of unused energy surging through his body.
"Always talk and no action." he scoffed and raised his brows, "stop hiding behind your words and fight like a man." the smirk on his lips grew in intensity, "Though if that's too hard, you can just say so..." he snorted and nudged Sirius with his elbow, looking at his friend while watching Snape from the corner of his eye.
