Player's Name: Jules Other Characters: Not yet. Contacts: PM my admin account, of course! Or if you have a plot with Remus, just pm me here or find me in the aimbox under "Jhuldra." Random Fact: I have a pretty small (big) obsession with Remus.
Name: Remus John Lupin Alias: Moony Age: Sixteen Birthday: March 10, 1960 Gender: Male Blood: Half-blood, Werewolf. Sexual Preference: Truth be told, Remus doesn't believe himself worthy of love at all, so he doesn't spend time thinking about this or getting his hopes up. There's a rumor that he's possibly homosexual, but so far in the closet he's in Narnia. Wand: Hawthorn, Pheonix Tail Feather, 12.5", Sturdy Pet: None. Special Ability: None.
Year: Sixth Year House: Gryffindor
Best Subject: Defense Against the Dark Arts Worst Subject: Divination Quidditch: No, he's just a spectator and cheers on his friends. Patronus: Yes. An owl.
Hair: His hair is naturally a light brown, though it seems to have darkened slightly with age. He keeps it relatively long and shaggy. Occasionally, he's let it get long enough to be pulled back into a ponytail. However, more recently he's kept it neatly trimmed. Eyes: His eyes are a naturally dull amber; however, in certain lights, they shine brilliantly, almost looking inhuman. Height: 5'11" Weight: 150 lbs. He may often appear sickly, though he has lean muscle that's not always obvious unless he's using his strength.
Just by looking at Remus Lupin, you know the boy has issues. He can often be seen sporting a bandage of some sort around at least one of his arms, and he has quite a few noticeable, visible scars. And then there are some scars which one cannot see.
Remus has been infected with lycanthropy since he was a very young boy. And, as such, he has already learned how to keep the secret to himself. Due to how the wizarding world views werewolves, he has quite a few self-image issues, going so far as to believe himself unworthy of such a simple act like friendship.
However, he has found himself in the company of a few very wonderful friend, two of whom he idolizes. He is disgusted with himself for being jealous of them and their strong bond. It's not uncommon for him to feel left out, but that is something he has grown and adapted to. Not to mention, they are aware that he is a werewolf and they have gone so far as to learn how to become animagi for him.
He is quite studious and a brilliant wizard for his age. He knows many facts and spells- he is well versed in all of his classes, though Defense Against the Dark Arts is where he shines. He also has an aptitude for healing magic due to all of the time he's spent in St. Mungos and in the hospital wing at Hogwarts- he has picked up tricks of the trade. He is polite and well-mannered, never one to offend in most cases, unless of course he is bantering with his friends in which case he may roll his eyes and shake his head. He has trouble standing up for himself and often avoids confrontation by leaving the situation.
But he would do anything for his friends. Anything. Even if it meant his own end... because, to Remus, they are the most important people on this planet.
Up until he was seven years of age, Remus had a relatively normal childhood. His father was a ministry worker specializing in dealings with Magical Creatures. It was when dealing with an infraction of werewolf Fenrir Greyback that things went bad. After the insult to the werewolf, Fenrir decided to get revenge on John Lupin by attacking his only child.
The traumatic experience left Remus with several of his scars that can still be seen today on his body and through his actions. It also began to trigger as series of events that led to the eventual rift between himself and his parents. They began to search and search and search for a cure, but none existed.
His mother, unable to deal with the lycanthropy, avoided her son at all costs. She was fearful of him, even when he was not dangerous. His parents were able to lock him in the cellar during the first full moon after his infection. However, he ended up destroying most of what was down there and severely injuring himself, including breaking several bones by smashing his limbs against solid rock in an attempt to get out.
The next full moon, they locked him in a cage in the cellar. While he did not break any limbs, he had taken his frustration and pain out via biting himself and scratching deep cuts into his skin. Every full moon left him weak, drained, and in St. Mungos to recover. And for Remus, it grew to be "normal." His father, out of guilt, cared for his son as best as he could, but the emotional distance between them was evident.
The letter for Hogwarts came as a surprise to the Lupins. They were concerned about Remus's treatment at the school as well as the safety of other students. But, with a very careful plan put into place, he was sent off at eleven years old. He was sorted into Gryffindor house and quickly made friends with Sirius Black and James Potter- the two boys who would grow up to be his best friends.
And, like he had all of his life, he tried to keep his condition a secret from his new friends, afraid that they would treat him as if he were diseased. But they were too smart for it, and they soon discovered his condition. But, they waited for years before they confronted him about it. And when they finally did, they revealed that they had learned how to become animagi for him so that they would be able to safely join him during the full moon. Although his transformations are still dreaded, he no longer worries as he used to. Because now he isn't alone.
