Erebus is a strange young boy. He is very quiet and introspective for his age. He tends to cling to certain people in his house and stick close by them- usually older students. For this strange habit, he often gets teased by his classmates who pick on him for being weak and timid. Usually, he doesn't fight back, but strange incidents have been known to happen to those who take their teasing too far. But, no one can really say Erebus is guilty. He rarely uses his wand save for his classes. An, unbeknownst to many, he has quite the aptitude and skill of wandless magic- a trait he has carried over from his former identity.
When he does speak, he usually has something of importance to say. However, he generally prefers to communicate with looks and body language. He has it down to something of an art- and he will usually use this talent to have an older student do something for him. He will occasionally get into trouble, as any 3rd year would, but this is usually due to his refusal to answer questions during class or the occasional times he is caught somewhere he shouldn't be (like trying to sneak into the 6th floor or forbidden forest.)
He loves to learn new things, and playing Quidditch is one of his greatest joys. He feels so free on the broom- and he'd spend hours riding if he could. You will rarely find him in a library, though. He much prefers to practice his magic opposed to studying its theory. He also has taken a liking to the potions teacher as well.
Paracelsus was a famous, secretive alchemist that lived nearly 500 years before current times. Not much was known about him. He attended Hogwarts within the Slytherin house- excelling at potions and transfiguration. Over the years of his life, he amassed great knowledge and power as well as many followers. However, he did not have the blood-thirst and power to "take over" the world.
Instead, his goal was set to create a stone more powerful than the elusive philosopher's stone. It was his purpose, and he used many methods in order to attempt to recreate it. Many of his methods would be outlawed in the modern-day wizarding world, and many causalities of innocents were had. Still, his ambition drove him to do what no wizard could. He wanted to be a master death without the use of the deathly hallows for fear that common knowledge of possession of one of them could mean his own extinction- none of the items would protect a man from his own demise.
In 1540, he had finally done what no man could. He had created an immortality stone.
But his followers grew restless and jealous of the fact he refused to share the power with them. Even as he tried to explain that the power was meant for only one man, no one listened. If one could truly live without fear of death, then they wanted it in their possession. Numerous attempts were made to steal it from him- leading to a battle in his own home when his so-called followers were overcome by their greed and attacked.
Paracelsus died in 1541, and the immortality stone disappeared. No one would ever know his achievement, and all of those close to him believed that he had driven himself mad in his search. His name lived on in magical texts- his contribution to alchemy and potion work never forgotten. He was immortalized in words, and it is through that he lived on.

In reality, Paracelsus did not die. The immortality stone's power had been tapped into and released due to the fact its magic was unstable from the beginning. It merged into his body, and the immense power overloaded his conscious mind. He fell into a deep slumber after using the last of his strength to move himself to a safe place- away from his followers.
The magically induced coma lasted for over 400 years, during that time his life's energy was replenished with help of the stone.
When Paracelsus awoke, he did not know who he was- he did not know why he was deep within a cave- he didn't know why he couldn't account for how he had ended up there. Many things had changed due to the fusion with the stone- along with gaps in his memory, he was a young boy once more, no older than thirteen. While his magical abilities are still with him, he's having to relearn the spells and enchantments, but as soon as he recalls upon his memory, he is quick to relearn the skills.
He has returned to Hogwarts; and, with Professor Dumbledore's help, has been sorted into his house. He is still unaware of who he used to be, but it is very likely Professor Dumbledore knows- or, at the very least, has a suspicion it could be him.
