Like any other person there is more than one side to them, but in Molly’s case she tends to play up that aspect of her life more often than not. To the professors and the grown-ups that don’t know her that well Molly is a good student, sometimes easily distracted, a motherly sort of girl who tends to the younger students when the Prefects are absent, a trait that crosses house lines occasionally. For as much as she presents herself as the “goody-two shoes” Molly is a stubborn and vivacious individual. To her friends and younger students she’s a bit of a motherly figure, making sure no one gets into trouble even at the risk of trouble herself, nosing about in other’s business, though all in the name of guarding those she cares about most.
To those who know her best she is what some call a “fire cracker”, not easily embarrassed (or at least shows it), enjoys a good prank and bending rules when no one is watching, and is quick to finish a fight that anyone starts with her. Her stubbornness is not always a good thing, sometimes coming off as selfish or pig-headed, her mischief occasionally getting her called immature. She is a bit of a wild spirit that hasn’t quite settled despite her role as an older student. She’s afraid of settling or slowing down, a bit of that belonging to the fear of leaving Hogwarts and being alone. With such different sides to her Molly tends to put on a brave face and dig her heels in. No matter what though Molly is a loyal friend to those who earn her friendship, which also tends to give them access to any and all of her cooking.
Born the day before Halloween, Mrs. Prewett was the first to say that her first and only daughter was going to be a handful. The youngest of three children Molly stood out among the family with her red hair and penchant for getting into things she shouldn’t…even after multiple warnings. By the time she was five Molly had been grounded to her room enough to learn to at least be better with her sneaking and mischief making, though it would take a few more years learning from her two older brothers Gideon and Fabian on how to get around with a little more ease. Despite her mother’s best efforts to raise a proper lady and witch, Molly was a tomboy, often coming home just as dirty as her brother Fabian, enjoying make-believe magic duels and battles compared to playing house. However, Molly was still close to her mother, learning how to cook and take care of the chores while her brothers were off to school, “holding down the fort while the soldiers were away” as her mother used to say. Despite her love of adventures, Molly found she enjoyed that time she had to learn with her mother.
The younger of the two brothers, Fabian, took a liking to teaching Molly what magic he could on his holidays from school, often enjoying the fits and tantrums the little girl had when her magic would go awry. By the time Molly got to her first year at Hogwarts she found that the teasing and frustration from her brother had paid off in pushing her to be one of the brightest witches in her first year. It was about that first year, after being sorted into Gryffindor, that she met those of the Black family and began to learn more about the divide of pureblood wizards and witches and those without such Pedigree. Her own family being purebloods was a topic that often Molly wasn’t taught about, her mother and father caring little about family histories of others while her brothers were more vocal about equality in the wizarding world.
It was Molly’s relationship with her Aunt Lucretia Prewett, a member of the Black family before marrying Molly’s uncle, that had shown Molly how other Purebloods lived as she occasionally would play with Lucretia’s nieces and nephews as a child. The same children she played with in her younger years while the adults did whatever it was adults did were separated from her not only by their houses, but also their beliefs in their blood and status. While some had taken to trying to influence her opinions of this, her brothers were the ones who were quick enough to keep her away from those that would inspire darker thoughts. Still, as time passed, Molly couldn’t deny that there was an appeal to what she saw, though it scared her at the same time.
As the years went by, Molly stayed a fairly good student, but as her brothers left Hogwarts she became a bit more curious about who she was without them. Her mischief grew as did her risks, enjoying the freedom without her brothers to lecture her where her mother couldn’t. Despite her newfound freedom, the young witch took to watching out for the younger students around her, though as her final years at Hogwarts began to fast approach she felt a little frightened about leaving her friends and the school behind.
Now at the start of her final year, she finds herself beginning to hear the rumors being murmured between the adults and some of the students in the school, watching as her older brothers become sterner and more serious each time she goes home. With adulthood looming, she feels the pressure to make a choice of where she stands and who she will be, a choice she finds just as terrifying as she does exciting. While she tries to put on a brave face, she looks at her final year unsure of where the fates will take her.
