 Finn is usually a rather typical guy. He's not too nice, not too mean, though he can be seen feeling moody more often than not. He doesn't have an excess amount of friends, as some jocks do, and spends most of his time with the Ravenclaw Quidditch team.
When he is in a normal mental state, he is fairly easy to get along with, even if he isn't the most trusting, but during one of his "off" days, some find it best to steer clear. Finn can become very temperamental, paranoid, and unreasonable during these moods.
He can usually feel them coming on, and tries his best to get away from everyone, but he doesn't always succeed. This personality trait was considered strange until it was revealed to everyone (including himself) that he and one of the Slytherin nutters, Fala Rousseau, share the same father.
Finn has become considerably more moody and at times even depressed since the death of his mother. To make matters worse, he also had to move in with Fala and their father over the summer between his sixth and seventh year. His close friends have definitely seen the negative changes in him since that time.
 Finn grew up with his mother in Norway, not knowing anything about his father. He was never sure if his mother simply refused to talk about him, or actually didn't know anything about him. Not having a father growing up was difficult at times, but they were alright more often than not.
They lived a relatively normal life until the year he turned eleven and received his Hogwarts letter. After much discussion, his mother finally allowed him to go to Hogwarts, even though it meant that she would be alone for most of the year.
Finn did fairly well at the school, socially and academically. He somehow managed to juggle school work, friends, and Quidditch. Life was good, except for the times when he missed his mother.
He, and anyone who knew him, though him to be Muggleborn until the summer between his sixth and seventh year. His mother died, and he received a visit from his father, Aubin Rousseau. He was told that Aubin had known about him all along, and that now he was under his care. Finn then moved in with his father and half-sister Fala in London, England.
The change was not the best for him, especially while he was still mourning his mother, and the tense atmosphere in the Rousseau house was not helpful in the least. Fala remained in her room for most of the summer, leaving Finn alone or with their father when Aubin was home. Finn soon discovered why Fala avoided Aubin, as the man proved to be verbally and physically violent.
Finn was very glad when September came and he could return to Hogwarts. He hasn't seen much of Fala since returning, and doesn't know how to approach her. He doesn't know if he even wants to approach her. His friends have noticed that he's changed, but he hasn't talked to any of them about what had happened in the summer, while trying to act as normal as possible.
